Help - guitar arpeggio tips?

Chuck Anderson...
I heard a cover of "Help" while watching a movie the other night, so I
picked up my old Guild and started playing along. This is one way that
I've been deciding what songs are in my "playing for my own enjoyment"
repertoire the last couple of years. Something comes up in the
background of a movie I'm watching at home and I get the bug to play it.

Anyway ... I got all the chords right (an easy one), but I had to web-search
for the arpeggios at the beginning and throughout the song.

At first, every page I found had this:

e-----------------------------------------
B-----------0-----0------0-----0--2------
D---------0-----0------0-----0----2------
G-------5-----4-----3------2------2------
A-----7------6----5-------4-------0------
E-----------------------------------------

This didn't sound right, but it is *the* most prevalent tab appearing on
the Internet. It's difficult to find anything different. I don't know
if I can even remember where I found this alternate after giving up on
the above tab:

e----------------------------------------
B-----------0-----0------0-----0--2------
D---------0-----0------0-----0----2------
G-------5-----5-----5------5------2------
A-----7------6----5-------4-------0------
E----------------------------------------

Slight change - *BIG* difference.

I think this is really it, but I'm still having difficulty making it
sound right. I believe, though, that it could just be a matter of
ability and style. I did read somewhere that George complained that it
was hard to play the notes in even, identical rhythm. I'd have to agree.

So, my question is two-fold.

1. Is the 2nd tab above correct? If not, what is?

2. Does anyone have any tips on how to play it smoothly (a certain
fingering? I just need to practice it 1,000 more times?)

Any "help" would be appreciated.

Jenni Carter...
1.The 1st tab is correct.
2..Left hand (presuming you're not southpaw): 3rd finger on A string 7th
fret, 1st finger on D string 5th fret; maintain fingering sliding down frets
(3rd finger A string 6th fret, 1st finger D string 4th fret etc). Finish on
open A - don't worry about last A chord. Use a pick for the right hand and
simply strum down the four strings for each four arpeggios ending on the
open A on the 1 count. With practise, pick up speed and Bob's your uncle (to
use a technical phrase).

impartial...
How about the first two arpeggios of the second example followed by the 3rd
and 4th arpeggios of the first example.

Fingering: 2 & 4, 2 & 3, 2 & 4, 2&4 for the respective arpeggios.

Works for me, though it may be wrong.
