ecarecar...
I haven't spent a second thinking about it, but I have to believe the
introduction
to "If I Fell" could be turned into a great tune all by itself.

How did it get squandered as an introduction?

Bernie Woodham...
I wish Dylan were still writing "Motorpsycho Nightmare". Actually, I agree

Sean Carroll...
Geez! That song was *already* pretty long. Imagine how many verses it'd
have by *now*.

that The Beatles influenced Dylan -- but The Beatles outright admit their
Dylan influence. Harrison as well as Lennon. Go watch the First USA

Rev. Love...
I agree, There's A Place, Misery, Don't Bother Me, I'll Cry Instead etc
were all before Dylan.

Visit. George sitting on the bed singing talking folk blues -- where did
that come from? And this was during the time that they were probably
writing the music for their 3rd LP. (The Beatles were in the US during Feb.
1964 - AHDN released July 1964)

I knew I'd ruffle a few feathers with this opinion.

Sixties Gen...
British artists were all ready doing American folk prior to The Beatles
popularity...and I do believe, if I'm not mistaken, that there is some
English folk music as well. ;-)

John said in a few interviews that he had been influenced by folk music
as a kid and teen, long before anyone knew who Dylan was.

Bernie Woodham...
Alright. Here:

"While Dylan's topical songs solidified his early reputation, Freewheelin'
also included a mixture of love songs and jokey, frequently surreal talking
blues. Humor was a large part of Dylan's persona, and the range of material
on the album impressed many listeners including the Beatles. George Harrison
said, "We just played it, just wore it out. The content of the song lyrics
and just the attitude - it was incredibly original and wonderful."

Freewheelin' was released on May 27, 1963 So maybe the influence was even
earlier than 1964.

poisoned rose...
Don't worry about "Sixties Gen," Bernie. Forty years ago, Dylan
failed to ask Marcus to the prom, and Marcus has been sulking about
it ever since. His anti-Dylan shots are entirely dismissible. Even
Fattuchus' anti-Yoko campaign has more credibility.

Annie...
It's well-known that Dylan influenced the Beatles. That doesn't mean
that without him, they would have written only Disney- and
Broadway-style songs.
