Ebbett vs Millennium Abbey Road

anthony...
I've been listening closely to both of these transfers from LP, and it
seems to me that the 'old' Dr Ebbett transfer is still the best in town
.. it has a slightly warmer ambience overall than the Millennium
transfer (in keeping with the original LP sound -- I have a v. clean
copy of the very first UK issue) while being tighter in its bass -- you
can really hear the skins on the drum-set, while there's a bit of
unfocused woofiness on the Millennium transfer. I suspect there's been
more noise-reduction on the Millennium effort, which does tend to
lessen aural impact. Both transfers are of course way better than the
official CD release....
Has anyone compared the Millennium and Ebbett 'Revolver'? I don't have
the Revolver, which has always been my favourite Beatles disc, with
Abbey Road close behind .... let me know please if close listening
still gives the nod to the Ebbett transfer.

I have all the Ebbetts and all the MR's and while I have not done a
side-by-side comparison, my general impression is that I like the MR's
better for stereo and the DESS better for mono. That is not true in
every case, it's just a generalization. If I get time I will listen to
both versions of Revolver and report back with my opinion.

I will say in advance, however, that this tends to depend on one's ears
and one's taste. I don't think one can definitively say that one is
better than the other. I will say right off the bat that I have some
hearing loss from years of headphone use in loud publlic places. So my
opinion may not be worth all that much. On the other hand, I have read
others who say the same thing I am saying (that MR is better for stereo
and DESS is better for mono. Then I've read those who say that MR is
best overall. Most seem to think that DESS is better overall.
