I'm in trouble

Caroline S....
I popped out to the bank today (from work) and noticed a PetCo store
along the way. I had been going to Petsmart from home, but it's a PITA
because it's out of the way of all my other errands, and is at least 20
mins total travel (usually 30), plus the time spent in the store.

I picked up some litter, a handful of new reflective collars for Pippin
(since he keeps losing them), and some filters for DD1's fish tank.

Now I can hop out from work and be back in 20 minutes or
so...dangerous!

New petshops CAN be dangerous. Micki went to a petshop opening and now
we are going to have a Severe Macaw, a medium size parrot.

Sheesh.

jmcquown...
I certainly hope you understand they can live 30+ years! And they require
fresh fruits and vegetables daily to supplement the seed or pellet diet.
And a VERY big cage! LOL It's fun shopping for bird toys, though, so
you're going to be in even more trouble when the Macaw arrives. Parrots
sometimes get bored with their toys so new ones are required. They require
a lot of stimulation and attention.

_Micki_ got the parrot. However, we know all those things. Micki's
friend and enabler, a parrot owner herself, gave us a cage that cost
more than Buddy does. And he wasn't expensive. Micki's coworkers are
giiving her a parrot shower, so we will have startup toys.

jmcquown...
A free cage - excellent! And a Parrot Shower :) What a great idea! I do
enjoy shopping for new bird toys for my Fischer lovebird, Peaches, although
now I can't afford to do so. I'm glad I went a little haywire with the toy
purchases when I acquired her (as a baby, 3 years ago next week!) :D

Buddy is a baby but he's already big enough I don't worry about him and
the cats. He's a Severe Macaw, the biggest of the smaller Macaws. I
like him but I don't think getting him was a good idea. A year from now
and I probably will love him just as I love all the cats and Bear. And
Buy Run, the Pomeranian, for that matter.

jmcquown...
Of course you'll love him! Birds are lots of fun. I'm glad Micki is aware
of all the things I mentioned above. So many people buy birds, especially
the larger ones because they are "cool", and have no idea what is entailed
with owning one.

Jo Firey...
I'm not entirely sure, but PetCo seems more expensive that Petsmart here.
But PetCo has the dog cookie bar so I have to go there too. Kayla just
loves their pretzels.
