wafflycat...
This evening, Vernon & I went for a pootle around the lanes, stopping off at
a pub for a bite to eat on the way home. On our quite lovely evening
journey, we passed a lovely ginger cat curled up having a snooze on a patch
of wheat at the corner of a wheat field. As we cycled by, one ear perked up
and one eye opened - watching us as we cycled by. In the village where we
stopped at a pub, it being a lovely evening, we sat at a table outside.
Whilst there, a black cat emerged for a neighbouring garden and ran across
to another one. Then a tabby the size of a labrador d*g came sauntering down
the village road with a swagger that let everyone know just who owned this
here town :-) Then, on the final short leg home, we disturbed another black
cat sitting in the verge, hunting for mousies.

The evening ride was quite glorious. It's warm, with a gentle breeze. The
scent of honeysuckle filled the air at various points. Then there was the
wildlife... rabbits, pheasants... a barn owl..

On arrival home, three felines greeted us, as well as the sound of a
nightingale singing from a nearby tree.

Sheer joy.

Christina Websell...
