Victor Martinez...
Well, not really excellent if you ask them, but quite good if you ask
me. :) Fez and Rufous went to TED for their annual check up yesterday

polonca12000...
That's wonderful to hear!
Best wishes,
Polonca and Soncek

and both got a clean bill of health. Unlike their siblings that have
gone to TED so far this summer, these guys were mute the entire drive.
Only Fez would do a shy meow every so often. Rufous was petrified, he
became really, really small (well, as small as a 12lb orange fluff-ball
can get) in the carrier and was actually shaking! Poor baby. Both were
extremely shy and did not even try to explore the exam room. All the
other cats are jumping out of the carriers as soon as we open them. Not
these guys, they stayed in, kinda looking out. When TED walked in the
room, both quickly retreated to the back of the carriers and got really,
really small. "I am not here", they seemed to be thinking... :)
They were very happy to be home and hopefully they won't have to leave
their house again for another year.

Monique Y. Mudama...
Purrs for both of them. Oscar also stays inside the carrier once at
the vet's. I assume it smells familiar.

sriddles...
That's good news! You're a good Paw to be so diligent about their care.
I'm afraid I have been a bad Meowmie and have been very remiss about
their vaccinations. Everyone is overdue right now. Do you get them the
full vaccinations?

pistor...
No. TED and I have discussed it and they only get rabies and the combo
vaccine once eveyr 3 years. We follow the vaccination guidelines for
indoor-only cats put out by the AAFP:

I just have put it off becuase it seems like *every time* I take a well
cat to the vet, I end up with a sick cat. The shots made Yoda so sick.

pistor...
We've never had vaccine reactions, but our TED uses only vaccines
without adjuvants. Not sure if that matters for immediate reactions,
but it's key to protect agains VAS.

The rabies vax put a horrible abscess on Biskit that about never got
well. When Bozzie went to get his ears looked at (I thought he had
mites but they were just dirty)....48 hours later he had a full blown
URI which I suspect was from a bug he picked up at the vet's.

Arrgghh. I know they need vaccs anyway if I end up bringing in a stray
or something.

Monique Y. Mudama...
I just found out there's at least one vet organization that makes
house calls in our area. I'm told they're actually very cheap, and
they have a full surgery in the van. Maybe you can find something
like this in your neighborhood?

pistor...
Definitely! When we did fostering, all the kittens were tested before
we brought them into the house.

Anyway, YAY for your kitties. It's a relief to get that over with I
know.

pistor...
5 down, 2 to go. Basho and Issa are due next month.
