A friend of mine breeds Basenjis. She currently has three adorable
on the English link, then on Puppies on the left.

I like the curly coated grey teddy bear-like doggy shown, he looks like
he could be a real rascal and get into mischief just like a doggy
should be. Is he a particular breed? he just looks cuddly to me.

They are almost as cute as a basket of kittens. MLB

Those are adorable dogs. The adults look like the canine version of Siamese
cats - all pointy and long!

Maybe the standard has changed since the early 1970s when I had my dog, or
maybe international standards are different than AKC (American Kennel Club)
standards. Back then, the Basenji's were supposed to be square (the same
distance from the top of the shoulder to the ground as from the front of the
chest to the rear.). I think the females were supposed to be 16 inches and
the males 17 inches, but I could be off. It was quite a while ago.
Anyway, they are beautiful little dogs with a lot of personality and
intelligence. Personally, I like that, but they are not for everybody.

Awesome dogs but not for beginners. They don't particularly like human
company and prefer to hunt. Extremely stubborn and independant. Need
constant training. Extremely smart as well.

My Basenji mix caught a squirrel mid-air as it attempted to jump from
the ground to a high tree branch. Not many dogs can do that. She also
climbs trees. I love her dearly but will never have another Basenji.
