Last night I came home a little earlier than usual. Betty came to
greet me, then ran off meowing. She usually circles back a few
moments later, still meowing. Apparently, she needs to inform all the
greeblings when daddy arrives.
But this time, the ran off, then... silence.
I called her. There was no answer. I opened a tin of wet food.
Still no Betty.
I went to look for her, and found her in the living room, meatloafing
on her favorite footstool. I picked her up. She felt lighter than I
remembered. She trembled with deep shivers as I held her close.
I turned up the heat, took Betty to bed, and swaddled her in blankets.
She lay passively, watching me. She was feeling tired and ill; I
could tell. I kneeled down next to her and stayed with her, until she
fell asleep.
I called the oncology center and left a message telling them that
Betty was too weak for the next day's scheduled chemotherapy infusion,
and that I was going to just bring her in for a check-up.
An hour later, Betty got up, sitting up and stretching her shoulders,
tenting the blankets I put on her. I wondered if she should be moving
around when she wasn't feeling well.
But she trotted to her food dish in the kitchen and started chowing
down saying, "Thank you for tucking me in for a nap - let's eat!" :)
She was perfectly fine!

That's the trouble when we know they're ill. In our minds,
anything they do becomes a symptom.
I'm glad she perked up. Betty's Post-it(tm) purr reminder stays
right at the top of our array.

You got me all worried - I'm so glad she is feeling fine now!
We think of you both often and send lots of purrs and best wishes for
Betty's health,

I'm sorry that the post worried everyone! I meant to convey my worry,
not transmit it. :) I ended up letting them infuse her as scheduled,
but with some additional conditions, which I'll try to recall and
write down.

I'm glad that she remains well. It's so worrisome when you know
they're sick, and it seems like everything might be a sign of
something wrong. Purrs for you both continuing.

I'm so glad. I was a bit worried about where this post was going. Give
her a few scritches from me. Tell her we don't need more bad news now. :o/
