foster kitty still sick

Bridget...
I am really worried about her now. Her ribs are evident and I think she
is very dehydrated. I am going to be taking her to a different vet
because I don't think the one I took her to - the one I take mine to for
shots because he is cheap - is good enough for serious things when it
comes right down to it. She needs some fluids, either IV or sub Q and I
suspect some antibiotics. She is not showing any discomfort and lets me
hold her, but I can tell she is going down hill.

My friend - who is very allergic to cats - offered to take her off my
hands for a couple of days so I could have a break. But since she
doesn't know what to look for, I turned her down. I know she needs to
see a vet tomorrow but my friend would never guess she is that sick
because she has never had cats. I just want the foster to start
thriving again. I may not even let her go to her new home until I am
sure she is back on her feet. It means they might have to wait a week
unless they can convince me that they will do all the things to take
care of her.

So, I'd like it if Calico (Ca le co) could get purrs to get well and to
not hate TED too much and purrs for me that this not stress me out any
more than it is already doing.

We are thinking of both of you and sending lots and lots of purrs and
best wishes for Calico to start feeling much better really soon and hugs
for you, Bridget, you are taking such good care of her,

Purrs for the baby. Don't blame you for keeping her till she's thriving
again. Did they check her for coccidia? I always think about because of
a foster kitty I had once. It makes them so sick and it's so hard to
get them over it.

Purrs on the way for Calico to be back on the road to good health. I
wouldn't turn her over to her forever home until she's well. I remember you
said the woman who wants her knew her before you fostered her but who knows
if she'd expend the time, energy and funds to get the cat back to good
health?

Wendy...
I wouldn't adopt her out until this health problem is resolved. She doesn't
need stress on top of being sick and rehoming a cat is very stressful for
them. That could exacerbate her health problems.

You mentioned that you were going to take her for a dental. Does she have an
infection in the mouth? If so she should be on antibiotics. I'm a little
surprised the vet didn't put her on them when she was seen previously.

I'd vote for a different vet too.

Hope she gets better soon.

Purrs for this little kitty and for you, too.

HUGE purrs for Calico to pull through. Purrs for you for all your worry,
care and concern. Please keep us updated.
