Setting the scene for the story below.
We have three new babies, Soumra is now nearly 6 months old, he is a boy
from Phoebe's last litter, joining him is two wee girls, Kaleen is Gigi's
daughter and Susie is Freya's daughter, they are 3 months old, like all
Burmese they are proper little hoolikittens and keep me on my toes. The main
highway is just over our back fence so taking the kittens outside and
keeping them safe is high priority for us. I wrote the story below to send
to my friend but thought it would be nice to post it here.
We take Soumra (the boy we kept from Phoebe's litter) around the garden on a
harness, he just loves it, we have the harness on a long rope so he can romp
around the garden, the other day we decided to take the two little girls out
to join him but we only had one other harness, so decided it would be OK to
let one roam about free! BIG mistake, they were having a ball, Soumra loved
that he had someone to play with outside, chasing up and down the section,
rolling in the leaves and then all of a sudden Susie "flew" up and up the
VERY large Banksia tree, she was out of reach clinging on for dear life, DH
ran into the garage (he can move when he has too) yelling to me "don't you
dare go up that tree" he came back out with a long handled broom used for
washing down the house, it has an extendable handle, he shoved it up the
tree ahead of the kitten to try and stop her from going any further, she
grabbed hold of the broom head and for awhile she was swaying in the breeze
as DH tried to get the broom untangled from the branches, just when I
thought she was going to fall she twisted around and with all four paws
wrapped around the broom handle like it was a fireman's pole and slid down
into DH waiting arms, it looked so funny, we couldn't stop laughing, pity we
