Let me start by saying the owners are not happy. While I totally
support the members of Rolling Thunder, I live close enough to DC
to have lots of motorcycle traffic during the Memorial Day weekend,
and they're very loud! I remember one year seeing (hearing!!) at
least a hundred bikes pass my house in one long caravan. This
weekend I haven't seen groups of that many (yet) but it seems that
every other vehicle is a single, pair or group of very very loud
Harley(s). Today is hot enough that the windows aren't open, so no
wide-eyed darts for cover today. LOL Poor guys. Tomorrow is the
parade/memorial/demonstration, so by Tuesday it'll go back to the
normal traffic of dump trucks and buses.
For those not familiar with "Rolling Thunder", their home page is
here:
Most of the members are themselves veterans, and they support
fallen and missing troups, raise awareness about veterans issues.

Ah, yes -- I'd forgotten about that DC phenomenon. Then again, I
sriddles...

Well, purrs to the owners. I'm surprised they haven't contacted the
Mothership regarding this problem yet. The bikers should hope not.
Funny, though, when I read your header, I first thought about a concert
I went to YEARS ago, it was Bob Dylan/Joan Baez and was called "The
Rolling Thunder Tour". I guess it was on my mind b/cause Joan was in
the news recently. Apparently she has taken up residence in a tree to
protest eleven acres of farmland being destroyed by big biz in southern
CA.
I hope she is careful. At our age, you have to be careful about such
methods of protest. She could get either break a hip getting down off
the tree, or be hauled in for a competency hearing. :-)

wasn't yet interested in motorcycles when I lived there.
I was going to say, not all motorcycles are noisy, but I guess that
defeats their whole name and purpose. They *want* attention.
I wonder if the parade / demonstration helps their cause, or if it's
just a chance to meet up with others who are just as concerned.
