Is that normal?

One of my coworkers recently adopted an abandoned kitten from work,
(sorry, not the FELV kitten) but another tan stripey kitten and she
named it spencer.

She has like three dogs at home, so this kit is growing up and having a
fun time watching all these dogs. My coworker will bring him to work,
along with one of her dogs and Spencer will spend the ENTIRE day curled
up in his bed fast asleep. But when one of the office cats walks up,
Spencer will start hissing and baring his ferocious milk teeth.
Sheesh!

I came up to the front desk to check out a client, and i peeked into
Spencer's bed which is on the desk and he was on his back with one paw
over his eyes. I could then tell he was fast asleep cause his front

And then at the end of the day, 'A' (the coworker) had me weigh him,
(yes we joked about the LAST time i weighed a kitten, hmph ) and then
she was talking with two of the younger vets in the practice. She was
expressing concern that the kitten was like 3-4 months old nad only
four pounds. So one of hte vets gave him a physical exam, which really
woke up Spencer. Nothing like getting your belly palpated to wake you
up. The general concensus was to just observe him since he seemed to
be healthy and he just might be a small cat.

hehehe, I snuck up behind her as Dr. C was palpating Spencer's belly
and said "His belly is full from all the WORMS inside." She kind
screamed and laughed "Ahh!! Don't say THAT!!" and we all were
laughing. Course the kitten doesn't have worms, but it's so fun to
tease her. Vet office humor......,

And then she said, "I'm also worried that he's sleeping ALL day. Is
that normal for a cat?"

Can anyone guess that this is her first cat? hehehe

My response was, "oh don't worry, he'll perk up. It'll be at around 3
AM. And lemme know when he runs across your head while you'r asleep and
scares the s*** out of you."

My coworker didn't know whether to believe me or not.

"Just wait.......oh just wait......"

ROFL! Running across your head, your belly, legs, back and then meowing
loudly in your ear. Oh, it's gonna happen!

Not to mention tapping you on the shoulder, "Hey, it's time to feed me!" or
purring loudly in your ear after giving it a good lick at 6AM! LOL

I'm surprised to hear someone who works at a vet's office isn't already
aware of this behavior, first cat or not. Didn't take me long to figure out
