OMG, Pill Hell

We came home from lunch to find that someone had thrown up their pill
on the rug. No way to tell who. Likely Kumani, but Tyche's also had
pukes and I don't put it past Nox to retch it up out of spite.

Went on the Net and found out that Drontal can be safely crushed, so we
made the second pill into powder and sprinkled it in Nox's mouth.

Ah - Drontal is incredibly bitter, which is why the yellow stuff is
encased in the hard white stuff... and probably why there was a lot of
drooling. It disagreed with 2 of my cats who would throw it up within an
hour of getting it. I now use Milbemax on them which is a tiny pill that
goes down easily & covers lots of the nasties.

These weren't encased at all. It explains part of Nox's hate.

Thanks for the info. We're thinking next year, we'll make them deworm
Nox as part of her annual checkup, or maybe we'll take them all in to
the kennel and ask for deworming to be done then, by the vet techs.
They're PAID to deal with Nocturne's shenanegans.

Some of it missed, she was thrashing so hard, and what DID get in, she
promptly started to spit and drool, casting ribbons of yellow ooze onto
us and the couch...I don't know if she swallowed any.

I worry about Kumani, who spat out the liquid kind we gave them last
year, and Nox, who is just so unmanageable...

Ok, five minutes after Dylan left for St. John, Kumani threw up all
over my nightshirt, and Nox is still under the bed, actually
/whimpering./

Is it okay if I find the whole situation a bit humorous? You probably
don't right now, but ...

I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I've never had to pill
Oscar. Giving her liquid antibiotics as a kitling was painful enough,
for both of us.

We found the pill pockets did wonders for the parasite medicine. Even Cali
gulped them down. Cleo never even tastes her food, she eats so fast. So
pills aren't a problem for her. But since Smokey won't eat treats (they're
Kat food you know and Smokey is a Hoomin). We tried crushing the pills in
her meat, but she got very skilled at eating around even the smallest
pieces. A very talented tongue. Plus she tends to wretch up her meat. I
ended up making pill pockets out of CHEEZ cubes. :)
