close the tin with a plastic lid. Here in town, I put the tin in the
fridge,
but out on the island, I keep the tins on a shelf above the other bed
(the
one I don't sleep in). The temperature usually drops so much at night
that
the food keeps quite well there.

bed in the middle of the night, grab the tin by the plastic lid with
his
teeth, and if he gets it at just the right angle, he can shake the tin
so
that it drops to the floor while the plastic lid stays in his mouth.
Voila!
My cat can open food tins. The drawback (for Frank) is that I usually
awake
from the thud as the tin hits the floor, see what he is about, and take
the
food away from him. He eats it by sticking in a paw, taking some food,
and
licking it off the paw.

Mimi (RB) did that, too. She would also dip her paw in glasses of
milk or water, and lick it off.
