Victor Martinez...
I've never done a garage sale before. Neither has Tom, as far as I can
tell. We decided to have one to clean up our clutter. :)

Dan M...
Oh, I am so sorry :)

Garage sales are a ton of work. They are a great way to get rid of
clutter, but I'll be happy if I never have to do another one. The two I've
done in my lifetime are enough to last me.

Don't worry too much about underpricing stuff. The lower you price
things, the more likely they are to disappear.

We have tons of clothes (some really nice ones too!), electronic
equipment, pots, pans, plates, cups, glasses, books, cds, luggage, power
tools, garden equipment, etc. etc. etc.
We've been working all day prepping for tomorrow and we still have lots
of work to do. Since we're not the garage sale hunting kind of guys, we
have no idea how much to sell stuff for. Hopefully we're not
underpricing everything... :)
Tomorrow shall be interesting, my very first, all-american garage sale.
Are those things common in other countries? In Mexico there is no such
thing.
The cats are having a blast going into every closet and smelling all the
old/new stuff and finding lots of new places for naps.

Good luck!! AFter our last garage sale I swore I'd never have another
one. It was a tremendous amount of work, and we had some really rude
people. We had people looking in the garage doors before we got up out
of bed, before 7 a.m. It doesn't matter what you price those things,
people seem to like to dicker. DH got really upset because people drove
*on our lawn.* And believe it or not, we actually had shoplifters. I
didn't care because it was stuff I was trying to get rid of anyway, but
really!!
Our cat Cherokee loved the garage sale. He just basked in all the
attention he got.
Hope you have a great experience though. Heck, if I lived in Houston
I'd come!

sriddles...
Woops, my bad. I just realized you don't live in Houston!

Marina...
Good luck on the sale! We don't have those here. If you want to sell old
stuff, you can rent a stall at one of the flea markets. There's one big
outdoor flea market here in Helsinki, and several indoor ones. Or, if
you're not that bothered about getting money for it, you can donate to a
charity, which will most probably sell the stuff at their own flea
market. The animal shelter likes to get old sheets and blankets and such
for the cages, and they also have a thrift shop that you can donate
clothes and smaller household stuff to. Then there's the recycling
centre, where you can donate larger things, like furniture etc. and
others can pick it up for free. They also have a shop where they sell
the more valuable stuff that they've received, and a workshop where they
restore old furniture.
