I found this Russian picture online and had to share:
Rough translation (VERY ROUGH - someone else is likely to have a much
better translation) is something like:
"I want a tender, gentle housecat..."
"But I dream of a snow white mastiff..."

What a clever idea! I really like those pictures.
Do you know Russian, Mark? (At least, some?)

Not at all. But there is a website:
which has a virtual keyboard to enter Cyrillic (and other language)
characters, then tries to translate. Of course, the translation is
very general, and you have to decide how to parse it grammatically.

By the way, I ran that translation by a Russian-born friend who said
it was more like,
"My cat is tender and gentle...
But I dream of a dog: a snow-white great dane"
Not too far off, actually.

At any rate, even without a translation, it's evocative of the missing
pieces in our lives, without our animal companions.
