As Baha has written at least once on the kitty board, she lives in the
area of Buffalo, NY, USA.
Thursday some time it started snowing. By some time Friday The
Thirteenth, 2006, the city had 23 inches of wet snow. The wet snow
stuck to trees, and pulled trees down. This also pulled down power
lines. Power was out (in Buffalo and surrounding counties) for about
350,000 or more people. I found out about this snow storm about 3 PM
on Friday. I live about 100 miles east of Buffalo. Knowing nothing
about the storm, I was doing some shopping on a nice partly cloudy 50
degree day when I find out Buffalo is burried.
I have tried to reach Baha by telephone. It rings, and no answer.
Typical of lines down. The ringing noise you hear is generated at the
phone company.
And, there is no further information at this point. They could be
home. At work. In a ditch in the car. Or at a public shelter. They
could this, that, the other, or anyone's guess.
Does anyone else have more information? I'm seriously considering
driving there on Monday to see if there is anything I can do to help.
In the meantime, prayers, purrs, and best wishes are all requested.
The last storm of such intensity, in NYS, took about a week to start
getting power back on. Two weeks in some areas.
I do have a printer, though it is poor quality and quite cantankerous.
If I do go to Buffalo on Monday or some other time, I'll try to get my
old klunk to print. Anyone who wishes to send purrs, best wishes,
etc. Post them to the board (here) and I'll print them out and deliver
them by hand.
Format note. Since I'm out Outlook Express, top posted best wishes are
easier to print.
