Annie Wxill...
Ahoy from the boat Genesis.
We just spotted our first alligator! It was floating in the shallows
with just its beady eyes and two bumpy nostrils above the water.
We are almost 50 miles (7 hours) out of Galveston,Texas, heading east on
the ICW (Intracoastal Waterway). We will anchor out tonight in a place
called Taylor Bayou. We'll keep the kitties inside the cabin, for sure.

Marina...
Ooh, good plan.

Hi Polonca

Thanks for the good thoughts.

Karen...
Wow. I didn't know they went that far out! I always think of them as
swamp creatures.

Annie Wxill...
Hi Karen,
We are not out that far. In fact, part of today, our route was quite a
way inland. Part of the time, the channel is dredged through marshes
and swampland. Part of the time we will cross a lake or a bay.
Sometimes we go under major highways. Or, we can peek over a low
embankment and see the Gulf of Mexico. It is an entirely different way
to see our country.
Today, we did not see any alligators (thank goodness). Cinder enjoys
chattering at the birds she sees through the window.
