THIS MOVIE IS A MAJOR, MAJOR, MAJOR TW!!!!!

I saw this film last summer. From the description, it looked very sweet
and I couldn't wait to see it. Wow, did I ever get a ton of bricks over
my head!

It's *not* just the story of this guy, which is a nice story in itself.
It's also about animal suffering. It features many, many VERY graphic
images of suffering animals. They really hammer it into you, so you'll
be agonized and outraged by the cruel treatment of animals in farming,
the fur trade, and other industries. I'm sure they want to move you to
action. As for me, I was in shock, and sat through much of the film with
my eyes on the floor (not that I could have seen what was on the screen
anyway - "misty" is a vast understatement). In fact, I walked out before
it was over, and cried all the way home.

I'm not saying don't watch it. The film is certainly geared toward a
purpose, and it has an important message. But it totally takes you off-
guard, because you get no warning of what's about to hit the fan. Which
is why I am offering the warning. So if you do decide to watch it, try
to be prepared emotionally, and have a full box of kleenex on hand.

A favorite on the film festival circuit, The Witness has won six Best
Documentary awards, a Best Short Film award, and a Best of Festival award.
