What Cat Are You?

-L....
La Perm!
"You are a La Perm! You are adventurous and love the great outdoors.
You're also known for your unique hair style, which you are quite proud
of."

jXwXeXrXmXoXnXt...
"La Perm"? That's a cat breed? I've never heard of it!

dnr...
I had never, either, Joyce; and just researched it in "Cat Fanciers"
website.
Its "general appearance" standards appear around 2004, LaPerm is a
*mutant* breed (dominant gene for the curly fur) developed by some

jXwXeXrXmXoXnXt...
Well, that explains why they don't "breed true" (as it said in the
description on the site). They can still be carrying a rececessive
non-curly gene that might show up in offspring if both parents are
carrying it.

I'm not sure how I feel about the munchkins. They look like regular
cats, except that they have very short legs. For some reason, that
bothers me - I keep thinking that cats weren't meant to have such short
legs and I feel sorry for them. But then, I read on the site where
someone compared them to Corgi dogs. And I don't feel sorry for Corgis.
So I'm not sure what that's about. It's OK to breed dogs into different
sizes and shapes, but not cats? Anyway, there's something about that
that disturbs me, no matter how irrational that feeling might be.

I don't feel that way about the La Perms, though - it's a little
strange, maybe, I'm just not used to curly-haired cats. I don't feel
sorry for them in any case.

When I stopped attending/showing in cat shows several years ago
(around '98 or '99) s, the "munchkin" breed was shunned, ostracized,
unrecognized by most dominant cat assns., and considered an
extreme, calculated form of breeding cruelty/birth-defect high
science.....cats were not supposed to look, perform, or live
with that conformation of body (see what I meant by CFA,
for one, having "strict" breeding standards? In spite of their
show "snottiness" (you'd have to attend and compare several
different assn. shows to know what I mean) CFA and others
deepdown are devoted to cat's welfare/future even if the

jXwXeXrXmXoXnXt...
Yes, well, if the "snottiness" is indeed based on concern for the
cat's welfare, then more power to them! I suspect there are other
reasons for the pickiness, but if cruelty is one of the things they
object to, then that's great.

cats they're concerned with are all pedigreed lines. The
munchkins, BYW, *are* cute to see, but they can NOT
do catlike things we're used to seeing our cats do, like
high-jumping, balance tricks, etc.

-L....
I think Munchkins are just sick. Something like La Perm is harmless -
curly hair doesn't hurt the cat. I hate all breeding but those who
breed things like Munchklins and Twisty Cats (remember those?) are just
sick.

jXwXeXrXmXoXnXt...
Exactly! What if you had one, and it got out and then disappeared
and you couldn't find it? How could such a cat survive?

I'm not a big fan of cat breeding, but if one is breeding a kind of
cat that's healthy and can survive, then I don't object to it.

woman breeder, *recognized by T.I.C.A. cat association*. I don't
know if CFA (the oldest, pickiest org.) recognizes this breed for
shows. Most non-contestant folks don't realize that some cat breeds
can only be "shown" for competition in designated, recognizant
cat assocations, as they all have different standards. T.I.C.A. is
the one I used to show Oliver in (exclusively) and is - AFAIK -
the assn. with most lax standards. CFA is the strictest assn. Of
course, it's been several years since I've had anything to do with
shows and things may have changed. But AFAIK, if you have a
cat who has achieved GC (grand champ) of his breed in CFA
shows, you have creme-de-la-creme of breed standards cat.
There were no pics of LaPerm breed but I didn't go to T.I.C.A.
website.

Well, obviously you are a MiniMaineCoon. My current feline boss is Chaos, a
MiniMaineCoon: 4&1/2 pounds. Other than her size, she in every way fits the
pattern.

Victor Martinez...
You are a Siamese! You are fun-loving, playful, energetic, talkative,
and exotic. You are the center of attention and you love every minute of it.

Wayne Mitchell...
Persian? I don't think so. Can't imagine how it came up with
that from my answers.

Duke of URL...
What, aren't you fluffy enough?

dnr...
Uh, gents? Some of us may enjoy being Persians.....rigged or
whatev.....LOL.
Well, scratch my little inbred, pushed-in nose leather.....

Me, too! Hey, one could do a lot worse.

I'm an alley cat. Huh!

independent, but very affectionate with your friends and family."

dnr...
Well, thanks. I seem to be a Persian.

glsummer...
Ragdoll, here. lol!

Apparently I'm Siamese :) That would explain why Persia talks to me so
much. Too bad I only understand half of what she's trying to tell me.

Christina Websell...
I'm a Persian.
