Here in New York City, tomorrow will be "Poem in Your Pocket Day."
I'm looking for a poem to put in my pocket. What are some of your
favorites?
Jo Firey...

Another old favorite from when I was young
They said throw it away
Love that has faded was never gold.
But I would not
I'd rather the dull tarnished fragment
Than nothing to hold
Sometimes when life stretches around like an endless Sahara
Deep in the hearts wall
I'd rather the sharp, salt shard constantly chaffing
Than nothing at all.

I'm also a day late, but here's one for your pocket, if you want to be a
bit Pythonesque:
Teeth
English Teeth, English Teeth!
Shining in the sun
A part of British heritage
Aye, each and every one.
English Teeth, Happy Teeth!
Always having fun
Clamping down on bits of fish
And sausages half done.
English Teeth! HEROES' Teeth!
Hear them click! and clack!
Let's sing a song of praise to them -
Three Cheers for the Brown Grey and Black.

This has been a favorite since I was a child. I try to have a brown bird
day at least once every spring.

I Meant To Do My Work Today
by Richard LeGallienne
I meant to do my work today,
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling me.
And the wind went sighing over the land,
Tossing the grasses to and fro,
And a rainbow held out its shining hand,
So what could I do but laugh and go?

Oh, I like that!
I've had many brown bird days lately. My housework is *badly*
neglected. I officially proclaimed the month of May "hit the high
spots" month and spend time outside. It's a wonderful month here.
