wafflycat...
At least that's what my three think of me.

On Saturday we were in South Wales, as Nathan was riding an event (round 2
of Rudy Project time trial series). Whilst in the Welsh Valleys we went to
see Vernon's daughter and her parter. They have a cat: Charlie. Charlie is
an absolutely sweet and entirely mad black & white boy cat of about 18

Helen Miles...
*SLAPS HELEN S*. You should have said! I was around this weekend and was
in Cardiff for a change!

Helen M

months old. So when we got back to deepest rural Norfolk, there was mucho
sniffing by felines and looks of *disgust* that spoke volumes... "We *know*
you've been making a fuss of a strange cat...."

Chakolate...
Yesterday when I came home, I held out my hands to the cats to sniff, as
always. But they kept sniffing for a long time - finally I remembered
that I'd petted the dog next door on my way in.

It's so funny - if I pet animals from far away, they don't seem to care.
But if I pet a neighborhood animal, they can't get enough sniffing.

Monique Y. Mudama...
Well, they probably get whiffs of the neighborhood animals all the
time, so it's somewhat familiar.

I am forgiven, though, as Waffles brought me a vole yesterday.

Nathan won the time trial :-)

Monique Y. Mudama...
Congrats!

I got back on my bike this weekend. First time this year. Two
thoughts:

2) Oh, how the mighty have fallen. (Okay, I was never mighty, but I
was stronger than this!)

As for cats, Oscar doesn't seem to care if I've been playing with
other animals. As long as they don't come into the house.

Cheers, helen s

Kreisleriana...
Yay Nathan!

wafflycat...
Thanks. He's been working hard at his training and being a good little
cyclist trying to put into practice what his coach tells him.

Cheers, helen s

Funny, my guys never seem to mind when I meet another cat, just very
interested.

Now if I brought it *home* . . .

Forgot to post this...

of him in his kit & with his cycling heroes at last year's Tour of Britain
TT stage :-D

wafflycat...
Sort of that bit (vaguely points to Devon on UK map)...

Zooming over to the CTT web site to check....

Course S5/28S

Which means bu**er all to me and will mean even less to a non-time triallist

Anywhere near your neck of the woods then? How hilly is it?? Will I have to
stand behind Nathan & give him a good thrashing to get up the hill??

djmaizels...
Lucky you! It's gorgeous round there. Quite hilly.... All Phil's family
come from the Tavistock area for generations back. If you want somewhere
to have a really nice pub meal, go to the Blacksmith's Arms in Lamerton.
Their steaks are *the* best I have ever eaten, (and that includes some
gorgeous, soft-pillow type steaks I had in the USA once.) Alternatively,
get some Cornish (or Devon) pasties from a baker in Tavistock and eat
them while sitting in the town square. Nearly as nice :-)

wafflycat...
Name of pub noted. We are travelling down the day before to stay in a B&B
somewhere.... so the pub may well come in handy for the evening meal :-)
Mind you, the night before an event Nathan carbo-loads with a bucketload of
pasta...

djmaizels...
I am sure they do other things as well as the sumptuous steaks.... When
we go to Tavistock we stay at April Cottage:

A very cosy, traditional stone cottage, friendly owners, very convenient
(2 mins walk) from Tavistock town centre. Nice breakfasts too. Just
FWIW, no connection other than happy customer, etc. :-) it is on a
fairly main road though.

Adrian A...
That's what I like to see. A non-smoking establishment. :-)

Cheers, helen s

Exocat...
Yes indeedy, it's all within a few miles of me, I'm just across the
Tamar Valley in Kernow,
from the hill above my house I can see most of Dartmoor.

As to how hilly, I can't vouch for the actual course itself but the word
"Dartmoor" says it all.
Think Lake & Peak Districts and you'll get the idea - so bring your best
cane for Nathan :)

Keep in touch on the timing etc. and if I can I'll safari over the
border to your marshalling
area (or whatever) to say hello - I appreciate you'll be really busy.

You can email me privately by removing a zero from the addy in my
header.

wafflycat...
That would be good - I'll keep this in mind. Vernon's booked a B&B somewhere
near and what we aim to do is go down the day before and get Nathan to cycle

Exocat...
Might be an idea to get together on said day before when it's much less
crowded & stressful.
Keep me posted on dates etc. & I'll look forward to meeting y'all -
might only be able to bring
the d-pet for a cuddle though, 2/3rds of the masters don't take kindly
to motoring.

BTW if it comes to emailing you, is there an "L" missing in your above
sig (I know what to take out)?

the course *slowly* as this gives him a chance to get to know the topography
of the course, hazards etc. without wearing out his legs for the next day.
The actual event is first off at 0900hrs on the Sunday morning. Juniors are
usually off early in the scheme of things and Nathan 'doesn't do' mornings,
so that should be 'interesting'... In the world of time trials, Saturday
starts are afternoon ones and Sunday starts are always morning ones... often
very, very early ones. We'll not be marshalling formally, but we (Vernon &
I) keep an eye on proceedings... in my case this involves mentally pedalling
every inch of a course and looking at my watch with a frequency that might
indicate a certain obsessiveness ;-)

Cheers, helen s

Monique Y. Mudama...
My sunglasses are Rudy Projects! That means we're practically
related, right?

Cheers, helen s

Sam...
Way to go, Nathan!
