great film and a disturbed Francis

Nathan & I had a day in Norwich together. We did the bike shop thing (new
bottom bracket for a bike and new seatpost), he spent birthday money (two
CDs)and I got my new specs from the optician. Then we went to see a film
together. Saw 'The Prestige'. A brilliant film. I'll watch *anything* with
Hugh Jackman in (fnarr, fnarr, snork!) but this was a great film.
Excellently written and acted. Go and see it if you haven't already. Two
magicians - mutual hatred. The story of how they destroy each other. The
film starts at the end - and works through how the situatin is arrived at
and goes beyond it. Also includes David Bowie and Andy Sirkis. Michael Caine
acts - not playing Michael Caine and Scarlett Johansson in what is a minor
role. One of the best films of the year.

Got home. Wearing new specs. Cue one very disturbed Francis. He looks at me
with a most strange look. A sort of puzzled unsure look. Poor Francis!

Glad you had a good day. So now Nathan is officially an adult. :-) I'm sure

HAHA. The other day, a lady who I helped teach how to test her diabetic
cat came over for supper. She was here quite some time when suddenly
Sugar realized she was NOT my usual friend who comes over. She was
laying on the floor by us, where we were sitting at the table. I had
my legs crossed and my foot was in her field of vision. Suddenly I
noticed her look up over my foot, then down under my foot with this
very surprised intent look on her face. I put my leg down so she could
really see our visitor. Man, it amazes me what EXPRESSIVE faces cats
have. She nearly lit out of there, but I said "For heavens sake, you've
been in the room with her for an hour and she hasn't eaten you yet!"
Sugar did stay and the lady played and played with her. Sugar is
becoming quite good with strangers. But oh my it was funny to see her
recognize that this was not the person she thought it was.

That's so funny, and interesting how she distinguishes between
visitors like that.

It's so very true that they know who's who, particularly if they live with
just one hoomin who hardly ever gets any visitors. Only one of "my" clowder
is almost universally friendly with strangers, and that's Baby Eyes - maybe
because there were so many dogs, horses and people around her when she was
an IBK. The others had very little exposure to others before coming to live
with me.

Tommy was probably the most well socialized of the lot, but he is now a big
"fraidy cat" when it comes to other hoomins, except for Dain (an ex-neighbor
who drops by when he comes to town, every 2-3 weeks for half an hour or so)
and Gloria (who almost never comes over but when she does, Tommy crawls all
over her).

LOL! Poor Francis, indeed. My cats never care if I have new spectacles
or not.
