Tom, our old feral cat, or rather ex-feral cat, surprised me this
weekend by smooching up to me and then rolled onto his back, exposing
his soft fuzzy belly. This is the first time he's done this, so I
felt very privileged. It took us 5 years to get Tom to a stage where we
could pat him, 5.5 years for him to purr for us and now 6.5 years for
him show off his belly.

Despite being geriatric (I guessing he's about 16 years old) his
belly was as irresistible as a kittens. Like a fool I attempted to
give it a pat and received a swat. Fortunately this didn't stop him
from showing his tum off again, purring and drooling.

Lucky he isn't familiar with the "Venus fly trap". Its one of Jakes
specialties. He likes belly rubs, just likes biting more.

I'm lucky with Stinky, who permits all kinds of indignities on his
belly, including face-rubs. He sort of grabs onto my head (w/o claws)
with his paws, and looks bewildered. ;) Dante, OTOH, is an
inconsistent tummy-trapper-- I never know when he will just wriggle
around dizzily when I rub the tummy, or if he will snap shut. ;)

Likewise we're lucky with Five. She loves tummy rubs, paw rubs, headbutts,
and has never bit, smacked or bunny-kicked with her back claws. The only
thing she bunny-kicks from her belly is a catnip toy. Sometimes she'll
walk by her catnip cigar, flop onto it, writhe around on it then kick it
away. Then she'll pretend that nobody saw her do that :)

Just be thankful you didn't try to give him a kiss ;-o cat tummies are so
kissable. :-)

Randy...
He is teasing you, knowing how irresistible a kitty belly is, look but don't
touch!

I find belly fur to be irrestible, too!
