The TED who comes into the local TED's office once a week to help out was
the person who saw Otis today. He lives in rural Alberta (Bowden, for
anyone who knows the area) and says that one of his clients has always had
Greyhounds for running coyotes off their property???
He said that his clients said that they're savage with coyotes but I can
hardly believe it. Even though they're such huge dogs, they seem like they
have such delicate jaws and teeth and they have no protective fur ruff at
all. Let alone the fact that its *cold* up there!!! I can't imagine a
Grehound out there running around in -20 weather.

Russian wolfhounds, maybe?
I also find it hard to imagine a greyhound surviving in cold weather.
My brother had an Italian (miniature) greyhound named Smokey. Smokey
couldn't make it through a Volksmarch (10K walk) without collapsing on
the ground half way, so my brother took him to the vet. Greyhound
metabolism is completely optimized for spurts of energy. They have so
little body fat that they can't do anything with the slightest bit of
endurance. Once we knew this, we fed Smokey a half can of food half
way through the march and he was fine.
All of which is to say, it's hard for me to imagine an animal with
almost no bodyfat, so little it can't survive extended moderate
exertion, surviving in the cold.

Parentheses for "catch" and "rabbit" posted.
No real rabbits used AFAIK unless the
large immigrant population in that area,
fond of chicken and/or dog fights, has
dreamed up something new. You'd be
shocked all right at stuff that goes on
out in the 'glades down there.
I remember seeing the fake rabbit flying
in pieces airborne on tv sports, but in
the far distant past. In the old days
there was no "electrical arm" holding
the "rabbit". For the record, I never
thought of this dog breed as massive -
big chest, yeah, but not a huge dog.
