Maybe it's just the way the group is focused right now, maybe I'm being too
sensitive for no reason, maybe I'm being childish - all very real
possibilities.

I have the same excuse for not responding much as everyone else seems to
have - limited time. I'm having phototherapy for my scleroderma
(thickened skin) again, and though the treatment is quite nice - a
ten-minute bath first, then a gradually increased time in the UV light
cabinet - it takes a lot of time (three times a week), and then I still
have to finish my assignments at work, so I often work until late. Not
sure the phototherapy is working, though, Rather than go away, the
scleroderma has spread down along my back, and my neck is stiffer than
ever. I can only hope that the thickening of tissue doesn't spread into
any internal organs. There are other health issues too. I used to be
able to shrug them all off with a laugh, but I seem to have lost my
sense of humour sometime last year. Feeling overwhelmed.

{{{{{{{{{{Marina}}}}}}}}}} You sure have been having a hard time lately.
Purrs that things get better for you quickly!

Lots and lots of healing and calming purrs for you, Marina.

I'm so sorry to hear about your medical problems on top of everything
else, Marina. You so deserve a break!
We are thinking of you, sending lots and lots of purrs, gentle hugs and
best wishes for things to start going really well for you,
Polonca and Soncek

From me too :( I worry about you.

I'm sorry to hear about your health problems, Marina. That's got to be
tough. And you've been dealing with so much for so long, I'm surprised
it took you till sometime last year to lose your sense of humour!
Hugs and purrs for things to improve.

|
But also, maybe I've done something wrong and offended people here?
cathyxyz...
|
Heh. I doubt that very much... you would have heard all about it ;) I
lurk here, and post occasionally, but this group is just too active to
keep up with... I go for days sometimes without getting in a look-see,
and by then it's too late to reply to anything.... so don't worry about
it.
Cheers

Thanks, Cathy. I find myself in an embarrassing situation in that I've
suddenly become very busy in RL and I'm way behind on posts today myself!
;>
cathyxyz...
|
Um, yes... I have 1450 unread messages - no way, no how am I gonna get
thru those..... ;) Good luck catching up!
|
|
|
It just seems like my posts are not being responded to except by one or two
people, and are being mostly ignored.
David Stevenson...
|
You are not the first person who says that 'no response = ignored'. It
is rubbish. I rarely post, merely read a lot here. To read anything
into my silence is just wrong, and I am sure that applies to a lot of
people. All NGs tend to have a lot of lurkers who never post.
I believe you should only assume something is wrong when people *say*
so: absence of replies means nothing. For example, I am still pretty
annoyed sixteen months later, by the post that said [summarised]: "Is
not our country, the USA, wonderful, because we are better than other
countries at everything". But I did not ignore it: I took the trouble
to post about it.

Speaking just for myself, RL is getting in the way & I just don't have
the time to respond & interact as I'd like. So it's nothing personal.
Love Sammy's mpeg, btw :) She sure is heavy on them velvet paws!
CatNipped...
|
LOL! Yep, she sure couldn't sneak up on a mousie, could she?! ;>
|
I'm afraid stories of Claudius' ascension to maturity and rule, mainly
at the moment he's concentrating on altering the environment to his
taste by removing wallpaper and separating carpet from its lining, are
having to go by the board :(
CatNipped...
|
Aw, I would love to hear more about that. Hooli-kitten attrocities are
always welcome@
|
But I hope to catch up in a month or two & send purrs, woofs & greetings
to old e-friends in the meantime.
CatNipped...
|
I'm looking forward to that, Gordon!

I don't want to read anything into this that's not there. But neither do I
want to force myself into a place I'm not wanted.
If there has been something(s) I've done and am just too dense to realize
I've given offense, can someone please clue me in (you can email me
privately if you don't want to respond in the group)? If I've done
something gauche I'd like the chance to apologize.
polonca12000...
|
You've done nothing wrong, CN, it's just that there are so many posts
and so little time to read them (and even less time to post replies). I
am always behind and I have lots of pics marked so I can have a look at
them later when I have a bit more time (even though now I have cable and
they load much quicker than they did when I was on dial-up).
Best wishes,
Polonca and Soncek
CatNipped...
|
Thank you Polonca. I should understand, I'm always way behind myself! I'm
just being silly!

I can't speak for others, but you certainly haven't said anything that has
offended *me* and I always read your posts without fail and enjoy them.
Now I am back at work I am finding that time is a real problem for me. I
cannot always even respond to purr requests by replying so instead I always
sit here and *think* them, and also light candles as appropriate.
I have 1018 unread posts on the group as of now.
I suspect a lot of people have the same difficulty as me. Limited time to
respond on a group that has a fair amount of daily traffic and maybe just
replying to emergency posts?
Please have a little more confidence in yourself. I love to read your
posts, but they mainly don't need a reply whereas a kitty illness post, or
another bad happening, does.
Myself, if I post and get no replies it doesn't bother me. I know a lot
will read it - and maybe they don't have anything to say about it, that's
fine with me. I don't assume that no-one is replying because I've offended
them, more that they didn't see the need to.
Just keep posting, Lori, why does it matter how many replies you get? Why
do you equate the lack of replies with you being *bad*, why don't you just
think how many are reading and enjoying and just have no time to post an
appreciation? Also ask yourself why you need it.

I was wondering yesterday where you'd been. Hadn't seen posts from you
in a while.
SFAIK, you've done nothing wrong. Lots of us have just been really
busy. I don't post replies to nearly the number of posts I used to --
just don't have the time (big projects at works, etc.). I do read most
of them though.
CatNipped...
|
Thanks for the hugs, Sam, they are greatly appreciated. Lots of hugs right
back atcha, sweetie!

I don't think so. Like many others, I just don't have the time to
read everything, or respond to everything I read. Pictures, in
particular, I tend to save for later, and sometimes I actually get to
them, and sometimes I don't. Same with longer posts. Sometimes I
save more difficult posts so that I can craft just the right response,
and then suddenly it's two weeks later and I never did post ... but I
did think about the person.
|
Adrian...
|
You haven't offended anyone, most people are just too busy these days. My
excuse sometimes is, I can't reach the keyboard due to a cat on my lap, then
I forget to reply later.
CatNipped...
|
BTDT - Sammy constitutes quite a lapful and there's no way I can reach
around her bulk! ;>
Thanks, Adrian!

I doubt it, CN. Sometimes, we all just get busy with "Real Life".
Sometimes we read posts, laugh or cry, but don't feel a need to
respond. And I think all of us at one time or another have felt the
same way, myself included! I think it's just a normal thing that
happens on and off on the group, so I wouldn't worry about it.
CatNipped...
|
Thanks, Ginger-lyn. That's what I was hoping all it was - but sometimes I
need to check that my foot-in-mouth disease hasn't manifested itself! ;>

At this point, I have 1,197 unread anecdotes. I have 790 health &
behavior unread. I have 117 a.cats unread and 160 community.
My eyes get tired of reading, so I do it in short segments. Either the
days art getting shorter, or my eyes are wearing out.
Perhaps it is time for another Mommy story -- I'll stop everything for
one of those.
Purrs that all is well for you and yours. MLB

I haven't been offended by anything, but read most messages posted to
the group without posting a reply.

I don't think so... sometimes I just have no time to reply to every post.

I certainly haven't noticed any problem posts from you. I am very busy
nowadays, and usually don't read all posts. I respond to very few of those
I do read - mostly just to indicate purrs. Please don't leave.
|
|
Yeah, I'm trying to take that into account - I'm guilty of that myself a
lot. But I wanted to be sure I haven't been obnoxious without realizing it.
I really am dense sometimes when it comes to my foot-in-mouth disease.
|
EvelynVogtGamble(Divamanque)...
|
I think that's true for a lot of us - maybe the "too busy"
syndrome just hit a lot of people here at once! (Sometimes,
if my posting time is limited, I just skim over the thread
titles, and if nothing sparks my interest, I don't even read
CatNipped...

Thanks Evelyn, I was hopting that's all it was.

With my DP just having moved in. My roomate/tennants just having moved out
(on 10 days notice, but that's another story).. A 3rd cat in the mix at the
house. A busy job & 2 voulunteer jobs (Ski patrol & a monthly wine article)
I too am in the 'too busy to catch up' world. Plus having been more out of
the loop than in it @ RPCA for the last 7 or 8 months.... Once ski season
is over (mid april) I may have more time for re-connecting with this
community.... For now I'm just trying to (barely) keep up. & get a finger
back on the pulse of RPCA...
