scratching the wall

Anyone else have a cat that is a little too helpful when covering his
poop and scratches the walls? Mine have managed to make a huge hole in

almost--my cats' boxes are covered, so Grizzly only scratches the
inside of the hood. sometimes she does it for 2-3 minutes at a time,
which seems like forever when I'm trying to sleep.

the paint/plaster from scratching the nearby wall. There is no where
else to place the litter box.

Is there some material I can use to prop up against the wall or attach
to it to save the paint?

if you or your cat(s) aren't into hooded boxes, I'd suggest plexiglas.
should be easy enough to clean and replace, lets you see the wall
behind it if that's important or desirable.

So far, Melly hasn't done any visible damage, but she
scrathes all over - the side of the tub, the wall, the floor
outside the box..... Apparently, this is purely instinctive
behaviour (like "claw sharpening" - which even my de-clawed
cat does). She obviously is not thinking about the PURPOSE
of what she's doing!

We have one bathroom with a tub right next to the toilet. Whenever I
use that toilet, Oscar rushes in, jumps in the tub, and scratches on
the side of the tub.

I haven't noticed any damage.

AFAIK she doesn't do this when DH uses the same bathroom, and she
doesn't do anything similar in our other bathrooms.

My hall bathroom is arranged the same way. I put a ball with a bell in
that tub (as well as a pot of water). TuTu likes to drink that water and
chase the ball from one end of the tub to the other ---then she jumps out
of the tub and races through the house. MLB

Cute! I use the bathroom in question very rarely. The other two
aren't set up for her to be in a bathtub near me.

Can you buy that at Home Depot? Wouldn't it be great if you could find
something with a rough surface so the cat also gets a nail file effect?
