I was watching television last night when I kept hearing this odd swishing
sound. I thought my TV was acting up. But the sound kept up. So I muted
the TV and still heard the noise.
I tracked it down. I have a Sherpa pet carrier for Persia. They are soft
carriers; they collapse. I found her rubbing herself all over it. It was
shusshing as she rubbed up against it. What on earth is this all about?!
She hates that carrier! It means she's going to DA SMELLY PLAYCE! Why on
earth was she rubbing up against it? I've no idea.
After a while she joined me on the couch and snuggled up next to me and we
finished watching TV then went to bed. She snuggled up next to me. I've
never, EVER! seen her snuggle up next to her Sherpa carrier.
A thought just occurred to me. I had to use that carrier to take Spotty,
the rescue cat, to the vet and then to The House of Mews. You think maybe
after all these weeks she's trying to reclaim her territory?

That may be why she rubs her face on it. They have those glands in
their face, and that *is* a way they mark their territory.

She rubs her face on me, mostly. My hand or my chest. She's not big on
rubbing her face against furniture or anything like that which is why this
was so surprising.

Is she a chronic face-rubber? Bootsie is, and we bought her one of

Not really. She doesn't even do the classic winding around the legs thing
that cats do.
Bootsie is, and we bought her one of

those "corner combs" from Petsmart. You've probably seen them, it's a
plastic square with teeth like a brush, it bends to conform to a
corner. It has a little well for catnip. She loves that thing like
nothing else, and is always "petting herself." They are about $6.

I've seen those things but I'd bet Persia would ignore it.
