Deo, the cat next door came over this morning and had a terrible fight on
our patio with Clyde. DH had his slippers on and was going to change into
shoes to go out and play snooker. DH tried to put his slippered foot
between the fighters and Clyde repaid him by biting the top of his foot to

OWch!! I've been catbit to the bone before (on the forearm). Definitely not
fun :(
Purrs for all concerned.

Ouch! Poor DH. Steel-toed boots would probably be the proper attire for
breaking up a cat fight.
I hope the foot heals without complications

Update on Catfight Victim
Thanks for the replies. DH has an inflamed, swollen foot this morning -
however it is not as painful. I have talked to Deo's slave and suggested

Hope that means it's getting better! Purrs for continued recovery.

that he check the old fellow for puncture marks. I know how quickly
infections can take hold. Clyde is now top cat
being twice the size of Deo.

The chickens are coming home to roost. You reap what you sow. And other
appropriate cliches. :) Looks like Deo has created a little problem for
himself! I do feel sorry for him, though, since it's not really his
fault he was a meanie to Clyde when Clyde was a kitten.

At the moment Ted is working here painting and papering with the help of
the cat gang. Some of you might remember Ted from the Ollie days.

Good old Ted!! Has he formed a relationship with your current crew?

I wasn't really here for the Ollie days, but I remember Ted from when
you all were trying to make various kitty enclosures and such (or
something like that) for B&C&FSP. He sounds like a remarkably patient
fellow :)

OOOOuuuuch!!! That sounds nasty.

The cats departed snarling and shouting and DH changed and went off to
snooker. Three hours later he came back and could hardly walk; his foot
was swollen and he was in pain.
Off we went to the Sunday emergency centre and he is now home some $60
lighter and full of antibiotics. I can't find any holes in Clyde but who
knows, the vet might be the next port of call. I'll let you know how the

Hope not! When will Deo learn??
Purrs for everyone, all around. Hope DH's foot gets better quickly - that
sounds like a serious bite.

victim fares.

That Deo just won't learn! I am glad Clyde is able to win the fight;
but I hope Deo wasn't really hurt, other than his self-esteem.
That is scary about DH's foot. I bet that hurt and was a real shock
for him. I hope it heals quickly. Actually the best thing to do for a
cat fight is throw water on them.

DH did throw water on them but by then he had been bitten. The bite seems
to be a lot better but the antibiotics are making him feel lousy. I know
it is important to keep taking them to complete the course but he is
starting to rebel! Foot is still painful but he can now walk OK.
Alternatively both Clyde and Deo seem to be in spectacularly good health and
at this minute are indulging in a spot of posturing and growling with the
window pane between them, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

It might be a good idea to soak the foot in an epsom salt/alcohol bath.
This is what the doctor had me do for an infected toe (plus the
antibiotics). Purrs that it will respond fast to treatment. MLB
