Pat...
Does anyone here know about ventless gas log fireplaces? Mine kept turning

Pat...
There are two thin tubes in the flame area. Neither one got dirty. I cleaned
everything... There are no lenses. The flame stays on just long enough that
I can say it was fully "on" - maybe between 1-2 seconds.

The heater I used at the farm was just like this one only smaller.
Occasionally, like once every 12-18 months, it would turn itself off and
refuse to relight. That always meant clean the pilot hole.

Outsider...
It sounds like one of the sensors (the thin tubes) or the valve is bad.
It would not be sensitive to being dirty only bent away from the flame.
If you look I bet you can tell one tube is more in the pilot flame and
the other is more in the burner flame. The pilot one sounds ok. All I
would leave you with is if you think you could have bumped the burner
sensor out of the flame bend it back in but you seem pretty clear that
did not happen and I expect you are correct.

itself off until finally I couldn't even light the pilot. I guessed it
needed cleaning, so I took it apart and cleaned it. Now I can get the pilot
to light and stay on, but as soon as the flames come on, the whole thing
goes out immediately.

What could the problem be? By morning it will be mighty cold in this house
if I don't figure it out and fix it!

sriddles...
Pat, could there be a safety feature on it that causes the pilot to go
out if something is wrong? It has been a long time since we had gas
appliances, but I do remember the gas man used to come out and check
them for you, free of charge, 24/7. They won't fix them though, they
will just tell you if they're safe.

Pat...
My gas company does not check or repair appliances. I'm on my own.
