I had a talk with Gabe at the market. He said "Oh no, no, no, I don't
expect you to be a cook! Just help sometimes if we get an order and my
brother or I are busy stocking or something like that. I was just telling
you what we have planned. You'll be a cashier, just like we said." He
added, "I don't even know if this is going to work, you know, it's just

Thank you for bringing back a sweet memory. My Dad was the same way when I
got my first business cards. Had to have a handful to give to his friends
and associates. Even though he lived on the other side of the country.

something we're trying, this cook-to-order a few items after the buffet is
closed."
Okay, good, as long as we have that straight! I sure don't mind helping out
as long as it's not my primary function. And I clarified, yes, I still need
to be able to go do the art shows with John. Of course he'll have plenty of
notice on those and they only occur every 2-4 months depending upon the
season. He said, "Oh I know. No problem! And any time you have something
you have to do, you just tell me... but please, not 15 minutes before you
are supposed to be here!" LOL That's certainly fair!
So I start training at 8AM on Saturday since that's a slower day than during
the week. Hope this works out; if it's as he's described it sounds like it
will work for both of us.

Good deal! I hope it's not something that you're going to hate doing. If
nothing else, it should placate your father, right?
|
I hope that this job works out for you and that Gabe doesn't start taking
advantage of you. We'll be thinking of you on Saturday.

Well, that sounds better. I hope that's the way it works out, so everybody
is happy.

You know, the best thing about that is that is sounds as if you have
lucked
out with an employer with whom you can really communicate. Rare thing.

Funny thing about it, he and his family are from Nigeria. They speak
excellent English but sometimes there are little misunderstandings, and this
was one of them :)
