New Furniture

This afternoon we went to a local furniture store to look for new living
room furniture. Current couch is over nineteen years old and its held up
well but nothing lasts forever.

Last time we chose leather as first grandson was due any day and we didn't
want to worry about spit up and changing diapers, etc. Grandma's can't
kneel in the floor to change a baby when necessary like a mom can. But said
grandson is now in college.

But are we looking at style? Color? How we wish to decorate the room?

Hardly. Now we are trying to determine how this differs from what we have
and how it will impact the cats and the dog. (All that pretty suede is
pretty much out of the question) Can Kayla still bury a tennis ball and all
her toys in the cushions? (no) Will the cats ruin it if they claw? Are
the recliners cat safe?

Ah for the days when I was young and foolish and could buy things for the
home because I liked how they looked!

(We will find out how we did when its delivered in eight to ten days and the
masters can let us know if they approve. New color should go well with each
cat. Kayla is black and white so most any thing goes with her.)

The furniture we have now is about 4 or 5 years old (link to picture is
below). It is definitely not a handsome set (I hate how the cushions lose
their shape and make the whole thing look shabby), but whatever that
material is (some course, almost burlap, weave), I'm going to buy furniture
covered with that from now on! Jessie and Sammy, despite having a
scratching post in every room of the house, insist on sharpening their claws
on both the couch and the love seat, but you can't see a single claw mark or
pulled thread on it even after all this time!

You'd think that the back of it especially (their favorite spot to scratch)
would be shredded, but it's not - not even a bit!

We just have second-hand furniture. And since it didn't cost much of
anything, naturally, the cats leave it alone!
