cat odor removal

Hallo!

Would anyone have a recommendation for a product that has worked for
them?

Urine-gone works very well. I have recovered many items that I thought would
have to be replaced. Get it on ebay, it's cheapest there.

I can't smell the odor on the cushion, but a visitor did.

Ones I've heard of were Urine-gone and Petasket [?].

I'm not interesting in just masking the odor, but in getting rid of it,
so baking powder-based is not what I'm looking for.

I still swear by Nature's Miracle. Anything that could
remove "eau de tomcat" from the upholstery of my car HAS to
be among the best!

A cheaper and very effective soulution is to:

Mix:
Hydrogen peroxide about 1 cup
baking powder 3- 4 Tbs
a few drops of dishwashing liquid.

I used this when we first got Teddy and she peed on the bed. It removed the
odor in one application.

like Nature's Miracle, etc. They're mostly enzyme cleaners. More
importantly than brand, I think is that you follow the instructions
*exactly* so that the cleaner can do its job. You have to keep it moist
for X number of hours, etc.; I forget exactly. Enzyme cleaners may not
work if you have used detergent-based cleaners already on the cushion.
After you've thoroughly cleaned it, and it's dried, I'd take it out in
the hot sun for a while. Besides drying and airing it out, if there's
still lingering odor, you will certainly be able to smell it then. If
you do, repeat the enzyme cleaner until the odor is completely gone.
It'll work. You may have to use multiple applications, but eventually
the odor will be gone.
