Mark Edwards...
I made a stop into PetSmart today. I ended up getting a large
litterbox (Little Boy said his box was too small), some catnip and a
feather wand.

Little Boy had a bad habit of throwing litter all over, so the new
litterbox was appreciated. The old litterbox started out as my
foot-soaking pan, and was put into service as an extra litterbox back
when Spot came to us with a broken (and later amputated) tail
(http://home.comcast.net/~Mark-Edwards/files/html/spot.htm). Spot was
adopted by a neighbor some time back. Anyway, the temporary extra
litterbox ended up as a permanent extra litterbox...

I still haven't opened the nip yet, but will probably wait until
tomorrow so we can all enjoy it (grin).

I pulled out the feather wand, and waved it around for Little Feet.
"Aaaaaugh! An evil, painted chicken! Run away! Run away!"

Hmmm. That didn't go over as I expected. So Little Boy comes over, and
I wave it around. "Aughghghghh! An evil painted chicken! And a long
blue plastic chicken bone! Run away! Run away!"

Now that *was* a surprise. Little Boy is the baby - about two years
old. He's the most playful of the bunch. Okay, let's see what Buster
thinks.

I wave it around near Buster. "Auuuughghghghgg! Why do you want to
punish me? Please don't hit me with that stick!"

Oh my. I spent some time trying to smooth his worries out. I
eventually got a purr, but he still stared nervously at the feather
wand.

Well, let's see if Dulce Mae is scared too.

Not a bit of it! She sees the feather wand, glares at the scaredy boy
cats, and attacks the feathers for all she's worth. She jumps, she
leaps, she kills the evil painted chicken. She chews on its long bony
blue leg, and subdues it.

She has saved the poor, defenseless boy cats from the evil painted
chicken! Yay Dulce Mae! Dulce Mae is our hero!

Um... well, the boy cats all start cleaning. They *meant* for Dulce
Mae to do that. Uh huh - yeah, right.

Marina...
This is how it always went with Frank and Nikki. Frank would be wary of
anything new, but Nikki would always charge right in and subdue anything
unknown.

Hugs and Purrs,
Mark

LOL! One thing you can predict about cats is that they aren't predictable.
