Frontline or Advantix?

Jane...
Do I have the names right?

I'm pretty sure that Rita has fleas. She won't let me blow on her to
find out for sure, but I've seen the occassional flea jumping around
the apartment, AND it's summer. Even as an indoor cat, that usually
adds up to a flea-ridden cat. (she's been scratching and biting herself
more than usual, too).

I have used that back-of-the-neck flea stuff successfully before, so I
can order directly from 1-800-Pet-Meds, but which one is my best bet?
Any opinions or suggestions?

I don't know if you can get "Stronghold" in the US. It's a spot on that
kills fleas, worms and earmites all in one go.
I use it for my two, I have to buy it from the vet and it is quite
expensive, but worth it as I can't imagine what it would be like to pill
either of mine for worms. Kitty would slash me to pieces and Boyfriend
would faint and never trust me again.

I've used Frontline for years, with no problems at all. Once the vet was
out of Frontline so I took Advantage. I believe it is cheaper, but I didn't
see any other difference.

Some people say it's gentler on the cat, but Frontline also works on
ticks - I have deer, possums, racoons, skunks, who knows what else,
and many cats that spend a lot of time in the weeds, so I have a tick
problem and therefore Advantage isn't really an option.

I have indoor cats, too, but there are so many strays in my nieghborhood
that even when I water my outdoor plants I get flea bites on my ankles.
Subsequently, I end up carrying them inside.

Advantage is the best for cats. It works within 24 hours.

I've used both in the past with great success. A few people have mentioned
some problems with Frontline so maybe it would be best to stick with
Advantage.
