Cathi...
Jasper's been "off" recently. Not eating, lethargic; with his diabetes, we
were understandably worried, so offto the vet's we went. Locum diagnosed an
infection and prescribed antibiotics, and within a day or two J was back to
his normal self. However, at the end of the course he started going
downhill again, so we went back to the vet. His regular vet did bloodwork
on him in case of problems other than his diabetes. Nothing showed up,
other than a low white cell count (which, if I recall my secondary school
biology, is indicative of infection). After a horrid weekend of him not
eating, behaving as if he was going into a diabetic crash but not quite, and
throwing up at least one meal, he suddenly turned the corner and is now back
to his perky self.

We were due to take him in for check-up yesterday, and found that Carrie
wasn't all that fantastic. Her tummy was tender, and looking through the
fur as much as she would allow, the skin appeared dark purply-red. So, we
took her in with J too, and walked away with only one cat. The vet wanted
to check Carrie out under anaesthetic, fearing an abcess.

Turns out it wasn't an abcess - there was a lot of bruising, but no
indication of infection. The vet has taken samples for pathology.

Carrie is back home now, sporting a bandage around her "torso" and looking
sorry for herself. She goes back for check-up Saturday morning. As for J,
he goes in again tomorrow - the vet was concerned that there might be some
anomaly on the blood tests, so wants to check him out again.

Purrs that my geriatricats are as healthy as can be for their respective
ages would be much appreciated.

Mogget...
I am not sure whether my own geriatricats can oblige - one is very sick,
and the other is Not Talking To Me. But I am sending you my best vibes.

Could Carrie have been in an RTA?
