65 is too young to die. :-(

Oh, no! He was one singer from that era I really liked. That is
pretty young, I didn't realize he was that young, actually. He had
already had a career for quite a few years by the time I was in my
teens, so I thought he was quite a bit older than I was.

Actually, I wrote the above. -- Joyce

This is really terrible news; he was NOT lots older than I am,
and I enjoyed his songs during my youth....even now, once
in awhile at wheel of my truck, I am known to bellow (remember,
I'm an awful singer!), "I hate to do this to yoooooo, but I love
somebody new! What can I do?".....RIP, Gene. I haven't felt
such a downer since Bobby Darin left us at his peak.

My favorite song of his was "It Hurts To Be In Love", about falling
in love with a good friend who thinks of you as just a friend. Sadly,
I was in that very position with a close friend a few years ago, and
I played that song a number of times to sing along. :(
I also used to love "Something's Got a Hold of My Heart" and played
that one a lot as a teen.
Joyce - glad she still has her turntable and old 45's!

I used to work for his English agent and manager many years ago, by all
accounts he was a very nice man. Very sad.

Oh, that is sad. That brings back memories of being a little kid and
hearing "Town Without Pity" wafting from my Aunt Linda's hi-fi.
