meee...
Well, after living in happy unison with several independant cats since my
First Cat (RB Cleo), it seems one of my cats has decided to step into my
First Cat's fluffy tortie shoes. And, like most first cats, he decided the
moment he set eyes on me. I took a little while to get over the
guilt....Jasmine, who i have had for a bit longer than the two new meezers,
I would have assumed would eventually decide to hold the position. But,
possibly because of her past as a stray, she continues to maintain an aloof
dignity, preferring to laze around the house, watching us, and only really
paying attention (with a bite to the ankle) when food is around. She is
called Princess Jasmine for a reason.....(prima donna that she is) Jasmine's
kittens are more affectionate than she, enjoying being adored by the Bringer
Of Food, and seeking out attention when they have time off from kittenish
pursuits. Cougar loves eevryone, especially if they have food, but is
beginning to show a slight preference to the Master of the house ( he seems
to be returning the favour....which is nice, considering he's a reformed D**
person, so I am hoping she will be His First Cat). But Mango has decided
that i belong to him, and he won't have a bar of anyone else, putting his
ears back and running off when approached. He is the one who Flops on my arm
or the keyboard when typing, types a few lines himself, then settles down to
drool on the mouse pad. He follows me around the house talking to me, and
gets terribly jealous if I cuddle anyone else. It is terribly flattering. I
feel a smidge disloyal to the others though, although I must say they don't
seem to notice, as long as they are still fed. Perhaps First cats choose
you. I had the choice betw56his littermate, (we both disliked each other on
sight) and he looked at me and said 'mrow' and that was that!!! So now i
have a new First
"""""""""""""(mango's opinion) Cat, witha loud purr and voice, a very
expressive tail, and there is cat hair all over my keyboard! Does anyone
else have a first cat? Do you feel disloyal to the others, or is it just
something that some cats do and some don't? (he has now settled on my lap,

Enfilade...
The bitties love me, but I'm not their "natural mother." Dylan is
their natural mother. We think though that their deepest bond is to one
another.

Nocturne demands unchallenged domination of everything, so I guess
she's the "first cat" ....of our apartment and everything in it. She
insists on sleeping on our heads. The rest can have the bed, or maybe
even the pillow above the head of the second person she's not sleeping
on at the time....but only if she doesn't want it!

And Smokey loves pretty much anyone, shamelessly, even if he's never
laid eyes on them before.

and is staring up at me with adoring turquoise eyes and purring)

Chakolate...
Doc is my First Cat. He chose me, too, just like Mango chose you. He
doesn't get jealous, though, when I give affection to Pi; he knows he's
First Cat, and is generous enough to let Pi get a little scritching, too.

I wonder if Mango will stop being jealous when he realizes you accept him
as First Cat.
