Nehmo...
What's the best way to provide water to a dog in a vehicle? I use a
plastic Folgers coffee container on the floor of a pickup truck. It
works, but occasionally it gets knocked over. There must be a better
way.

Kathleen...
I don't give my dogs water in my vehicle. I don't feel it's necessary.
I stop every three hours or so so that dogs and humans can stretch
their legs and take a bathroom break, and I offer water then, in a bowl
outside the van.

Like a folding travel bowl, perhaps?

SnoMan...
Or better still, water it when stopped because you have to stop too
sometime.

but I suspect the success rate will be about the same as what you
already have.

JC Dill...
I used a "spill-proof" bowl similar to these:

with moderate success when I was regularly taking my dog with me in
the truck, some years back (I don't have a dog right now).

John S....
A spill resistant bowl like the ones mentioned might reduce the
splasing but dogs are pretty messy when they drink, so your car is
still gonna get wet.

I do not like the idea of multitasking while driving. Getting the dish
ready and keeping an eye on rover as he drinks as you roll down the
road sounds very dangerous to me. Why not just pull over, set the dish
and food outside and give the both of you and other drivers a break.

Janet B...
If you want to keep using this container, some velcro on the bottom
will usually keep it stuck to the floor's carpet pretty well.

Janet B...
I use clip-on buckets in their crates.

B. Peg...
Ours used a baby bottle. Low mess, and he pretty much figured it out in
short order.

MauiJNP...
a short/small dish that fits in a cup holder is what I use. I put less than
an inch of water in it so they can't really spill it but never go thirsty
either.

Tirya...
Depending on the size of the dog - our Mini Schnauzers learned to drink from
a regular-sized cup that we then put in the cup holder. We could put a lid
on it when they didn't want to drink, and the cup holder kept it from
spilling.
