Kyles...
Hello all,
I have just inherited a wonderful Yorkiepoo and Chiuaua they are both a year
old, and I seem to be having an awful time with potty training them. and I
am not sure what I am doing wrong.

I only crate them overnight and then in the morning take them for a walk so
they can do their buisness, which they do without a problem. and I seem to
have them in a bit of a routine where they know what the designated times
are for them to go outside. However this routine is not the same on weekends
as I am home, and sometimes running out and about. so on some days it is

I'm confused. Aren't you home during the week, too?

broken, with this they relieve themselfs where I wish they wouldn't :)

My question is what would be a good method for me to train them to tell me
they need to go out. For instance when they lived with my sister they used
to scratch on the door to be let out, she did have a back yard and i don't.
They don't seem to do this with me...

any advice that you all could offer would be just super.

Handsome Jack Morrison...
Based on my understanding of your problem, I think you have two
options.

1. Arrange your schedule on weekends to allow for their needs in
*timely* ways. Try to keep to the same ROUTINE you use during the
week.

2. Use the crate on weekends, when you leave the house.

I vote for Number One.

The more often you allow them to make mistakes, the more mistakes
they'll make.

Don't rely on the dogs telling you when they have to go. ANTICIPATE
their needs; stick to a ROUTINE.

You'll eventually get used to it, and so will they.
