She was set to be "culled by breeder , who I happened to met at vet. reason

for cull was stated to me to be that she is the wrong color.thin, (not
emaciated)
Eating So fast she vomits it up. even small amounts fed over the day.
Vet says she is healthy. He did the usual blood, stool and look-over.
no worms, etc. Vets verdict is healthy .The breeder(and I call her that with
distaste) had chosen to separate her from the litter a few days prior to
going to the vet to "see if nature would take it's course" I.E. she was
starving her.
My new gal, who is my first standard, is so different from my toys and could

nope, not really. I was just hoping it would make her eat more. She gets
feed 2x a day right now. I give her kibble only (sprinkled with a holistic
dog powder that should make it more interesting) and she never empties her
bowl. She eats some and then plays with it. She tries knocking the dish
over, throws some peices around the room, wrestles with it, etc. I give her
20 minutes than pick it up. Repeat for evening feeding.
I just want her to be healthy and the vet thinks she needs to gain some
weight (around 2 pounds). Its been 1 1/2 months since she was supposed to
start gaining weight and she hasn't put on any weight yet. I don't know how
long it should take to safely gain 2 pounds if the dog is only 8 to start
(forgot to ask the vet) but shoudln't there be some improvement now if my
current plan was working?

Can you try another food at least for snacks? It doesn't sound like
she likes the Cal Nat all that much. Blending it won't make it taste
different. I don't like to add fattening things to the regular food
because that could lead to an expectation that will take her beyond
gaining the pound or two and into obesity if she is a picky eater to
begin with. You can use fattening training treats, but my concern
would be that she is not getting enough nutrition if she turns her
nose up at her food and then gets high fat training treats. Sometimes
they really like a food that isn't as healthy so you don't want it to
be their staple, but it has some nutrition so it is better than empty
calories for a treat. For example, my dogs really like the Old Roy
soft dinner rounds. I don't like softer foods for their main food,
but it is a good training treat since it is made ostensibly to provide
all the nutrition the dog needs in a food and not just as a treat.
Break that into little pieces for training treats and do training
sessions and see if Cali puts on some weight. I also think 20 minutes
is too long for the food to be down in this case. As soon as the
pickiness begins, take the food away and don't put it back down.
Hopefully, Cali will then learn that as soon as it is play time
instead of serious business time, the food is going to disappear so
better to eat seriously until full. If Cali is full, then maybe the
pound or two is not that big a deal. There are naturally thin people,
so why not dogs? Are there specific health concerns?

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. In fact, count your blessings.
Considering that you can't control her genetics and a good deal of her
environment is out of your hands, the best thing you can do to give your
dog a long and healthy life is keep her thin.

did you plan to buy this dog or was this a last minute thing?
either way, I am a little jealous. I can't wait to have a big dog! I have
2 small poodles but my next one will certainly be a standard.

use some advice.
She is eating chicken soup puppy food as per advice from the vet and Nutro
large breed puppy kibble. small amounts 5-6 times a day.
she knows (at least I believe so) that We saved her. she is very clean , 90%
housebroken, very good puppy. and I am thrilled .I have always wanted a
standard.
By the way... she is a phantom. which I now understand is not a color the
AKC recognizes.(and for that reason alone she would have died.)
Am I doing something wrong food wise or is the vomit a reaction to having
been starved that will work itself out? or, should we take her to a
Rocky...

Is the vomited food digested to any degree?

nutritionist vet (is there such a thing?)
Jerry's blocked don't bother.
diddy...

Something less obvious and not so easily diagnosed on casual examination
could be megasophagus.

Yes! I finally have chloe certified as a service dog. I can take her
anywhere
and she helps keep me centered. she seems to love her new"postion" and
understands that when I'm freaking she should nose me to a quiet place
so I can get my @#$ together.
she has a cute little vest that says SERVICE DOG and id that has her
picture and certifacation # and on the back it explains that the ADA
laws
require her entry to anypublic area or public transport. and she can
fly
with me for free.
its such a good feeling not having to drag someone with me to just go
to the store when my service dog can just go anyplace with me. and
she KNOWS when she's working . And she is my own dog.

Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts. It helps.
Sadly , I have to say that she was found. Some children took her from
momas yard, and let her go near a busy street and she was killed. I
could really do some harm if I knew who it was.
I'm living on valium and tears, my mother is quickly slipping towards
hospitalization and my son is angry that I let her go with my mother.

afternoon.
What I'm finding strange, is that dollys mom and dad were
at that very moment making babies.
am I nuts to believe that dolly will come back to me in 60 days?
because in my heart I do believe so. I dont own dollys parents,
so it was a complete suprise to me to find this information out today.
maybe I am going over the edge, but it seems to help me, to believe I
will get a second chance. But she will stay here.it's just too rishy to
send
her to california.
thanks and please, do let me know your opinions,as my husband thinks
I should be commited for believing this
