my new puppy, Tuck, grabbed a raw chicken wing and wolfed it down on
sunday. He's been in the hospital daily, admitted sometimes, and home

montored others. He's been supported supported daily by fluids, hoping he
would pass it, but he's destabilizing fast, and has just gone into surgery
to have it removed from his stomach, and his intestines have intuscepted
from being empty for so long, and they need surgery also.

I'm really sorry to hear that Tuck is not well, Diddy. We'll keep our
fingers and paws crossed for a good outcome.

He's lost more than half his body weight in the last two days.
please send a positive thought for him. I know a lot of you don't like me.

You got it. Tuck sounds like a great dog and, as you may
remember, I've got a real soft spot for Norwegian Elkhounds.

No he's not. I wish him all the best and I hope he comes through this

You know what Diddy? It doesn't matter what I think of you to feel
very badly for both you and the puppy. I wish you well in this and
hope that everything can be done easily and in time. Blockage is
something I'm too familiar with and it's terrifying. My hearts go out
to both of you. Your post makes me even firmer in my decision that
Lucy, who's a food bolter, will never get offered chicken pieces -
this is a huge fear of mine.

Thank you to you and all who posted.
He's awake, and he walked out to pee, came back in and got hooked up.
The next two weeks are a gauntlet of expected complications, all life
threatening and a lot of 'if's" but for now, he's stable, and well doped
up with painkillers and strong antibiotics. His vitals are all good and
strong. He went back to sleep as soon as he came back in. he's pretty
wobbly. He's going to be in the hospital for two weeks.

I'm glad to see that all is going well so far. The next two weeks are going
to be really hard. I went through that when Finn was a puppy. Sometimes,
keeping them doped up is as much for the human as it is for the dog.....it
really helps us fragile humans rest easier knowing that they aren't spending
all that time so scared an in pain.
Get some sleep. He'll be needing your strength later, so stock up now while
he's safe in someone else's hands.

I usually don't leave my dog at the vets, and usually will stay with
them. But he's just too doped up to care if i'm there, and i will stay
with him once he becomes alert enough to realize he's alone.

Wow, I wouldn't have imagined that a raw chicken wing would be so
dangerous. My thoughts and prayers are with Tuck; I know what this pup
means to you.
