Asked for a kiss ... I got a small nip in the nose.

buzzsaw...
Everything was going ok ... Max was resting, I came up to him and asked for
a kiss and got sort of a headbutt / nice nip in the nose. Of course he is a
huge dog.

He does this sometimes and uses more teeth than tongue and I get wacked,
just this time - IT HURT. He cut my nose up pretty good. I yelled when he
did it, and gave him a good push off the bed that he was on.

But afterwards, he was so scared - he hid under the kitchen table and would
not come near me. Like he knew something was wrong or was "doggy
remorseful" if there is such a thing. I was moving room to room taking care
of myself and instead of him being by my side he would get clear out of my
way.

The next day I just bandaged myself up and acted like nothing happened.

Not sure if I handled this on right.

Michael A. Ball...
The late Nightbear, Chow Chow, used to get me on the nose {giving me sugar or taking a
treat from my lips]. Sometimes, it really hurt, and I reacted strongly by pushing him
away. But I loved him too much to stay upset for more than a few seconds. I always
realized it was an accident. So, I was always quick to let him know all was well.

Max will probably recover quickly. It might help, if you seek more kisses from him.

I like being face to face with dogs; especially big dogs. We always have to realize the
possibility of a rough kiss, and be willing to accept it. For me, that means being
prepared to limit my reaction to the absolutely minimum.

I consider dogs incredibly forgiving. Max won't hold a grudge. Just be loving; and maybe
give him a kiss. :-)

A dog's life is too short; their only fault really.
