showdogbark...
We took Blue to the local Canada Day celebrations in our small village.
There was an animal parade. We entered him in it.
There were about 20 dogs and a few puppies.
It was so cute because some of the mothers who had very small children
about two or three took the children's little toys and put ribbons
around their necks and the children pretended to be in the parade with
their toys. Of course they did not enter them, but it was fun playing
with the children and the dogs while we all waited for about an hour.
Blue won first prize for
Good natured
Calm
Friendly
Obedient
Good looking
Good disposition.
Cute
He won a red ribbon and a basket full of about one hundred and fifty
dollars worth of dog toys and paraphernalia along with treats.
The basket had beautiful ribbons on it, with a small Canadian flag
sticking up out of the top.
The whole town is full of tourists. there is batchi ball and dunking of
RCMP officers in a tank for charity. A pancake breakfast and burgers,
even vegetarian ones.
The most exiting part was a kayak race down the large creek that flows
through town. The rapids are enormous and it sure looked spooky
watching them tackle the currents. Actually with all the spring run off
at this time of year the creek looks like a river.
Tonight there is going to be fireworks.
I think it was great timing for Blue to be entered in this contest as a
woman commented on how this was great as he was so young and exposing
him to so many people and other dogs would be good for his
socialization.
A town fifteen miles from here is going to have a Bluegrass group play,
my husband is exited about going to it.
I am going to stay home with Blue and hang out in the yard.
It is handy having a laptop, if I want to write or be on the net, I
take my computer (apple of course) and take my time enjoying Blue and
the birds and the waves in the water make ripples. There is also the
amazing sky to be in awe of.
There is a carnival festival in the air, as the tourists are camping
and having camp fires and swimming in the lake along with Canoeing and
Kayaking. The boats I could do without. Having one myself this is not
generous on my part. My reason is that we use an electric motor, and
only use the gas as back up if there is a storm coming.
The lake is the largest in the western hemisphere that has no land
fill, no dam on it and the water is potable.

Rocky...
I don't know about that, but it's certainly a beautiful area. I
used to go there often.

showdogbark...
You are welcome to come and visit on your way to the dog trials in
Burnaby.
E-mail me if you wish to visit. Come and have a cup of tea and my
husband will make cookies.
I can not go to see the trials as I have Blue and it is too much
driving in the heat.

Janet B...
your car doesn't have AC?

showdogbark...
Yah sure it does. What does that have to do with my invitation?
It is still hot when not in the car. Why put Blue and myself through
all that traveling.
It is so much more relaxing to stay by the lake in our home then to go
to a dog competition. Not that I mind them, he is a bit young to take
to so much stimulation for me and him. I find stimulation overload
gives me headaches, having to deal with Blue at the same time as
watching the competitions would be hard.
Besides what is so offensive about my offer. Why go to the competitions
to meet Matt and Friday when he could come by, it may be on his way
since he lives in Alberta and Silverton is one of the routes to come
from Alberta to B.C. through.
Hey if he does not wish to come no problem, just being friendly.
I have had enough interactions with him that I no longer feel Stranger
Danger as I do find the net spooky.
I did offer cookies and tea.
What does AC have to do with anything concerning my invite?

My husband and I love dog people and dogs of course.

showdogbark...
What I meant was it is the largest lake without landfill, a dam and has
potable water. Of course it is not the largest lake in the western
hemisphere. I was not specific enough.

The other side of the lake is a park (Valhalla Park) and so there are
no ugly sites of lights and telephone poles or houses. Miles and miles
of mountains in both directions.
It looks very much like Switzerland without all the people.
Blue loves playing with his wiggly giggly. The small one.
He also likes to play ball and bring it back to me to throw again.
Now he has some more toys from the basket of stuff that he won. He
loves them already
