Nighttime panting?

dru.sefton...
Hi all: My dog has a very slight heart murmur (between 1 and 2) but the
past few weeks has been waking up in the middle of the night panting. I
don't think he's hot, he sleeps atop the covers and doesn't seem to
want to move. He pants heavily for about 30 seconds or a minute, then
licks his chops and goes back to sleep. (Leaving me awake and pondering
this. Ha!)

Any experience with this? Worth a trip to the vet? He's not on any meds

Handsome Jack Morrison...
You bet!

If it's the heart murmur that is causing the panting, there are
medications that can help.

It could also be the sign of something else, too (e.g., Cushing
Disease, CHD, etc.), so, IMO, a trip to the vet is a good idea.

and seems normal otherwise.

He's a 28-lb rescue mix, probably border collie/papillion? Who knows.

Thanks! Dru, Washington, DC
