My parents have a 2 year old female American Cocker, which passed her
puppy training with flying colours. A year on and she has become the
least bidable dog on the planet, whose favourite hobby is growling at
other dogs, even though she won't actually bite them - Thank goodness!

Suzanne, what have your parents been doing during the last year?
Reinforcing their dog's puppy training? Or not so much?
|
She also has a habit of jumping all over any visitors to the house
when they initially arrive. This behaviour is the exact opposite of

How then did their puppy pass her puppy training "with flying colors"?

their last American Cocker, which was a rescue dog and the most
Rocky...
|
Because of the situation, the rescue Cocker may have gotten more
dog socialisation than the current Cocker.

That's idiocy matty. The dog was SOCIALIZED pryor to leavin his
litterbox.
|
Still, the usual caveat applies: Consult your veterinarian when
you notice a change in behaviour - physical problems which may
result in behaviour changes are often easily diagnosed.

That's a load of CRAP, matty.
Your vet don't know NUTHIN abHOWET behavior.
ALL temperament and behavior problems are CAUSED BY MISHANDLING
therefore they can be CURED NEARLY INSTANTLY if you simplt DO
EVERYTHING EXXXACTLY PRECISELY OPPOSITE of HOWE you do, matty.

Or, at the other end of the spectrum, Rocky cowers,
thinking I'm angry at him - a reason I don't "yuk out"
others' dogs at agility trials or training.

obedient dog ever.

Maybe your parents' prior dog had already been OBEDIENCE TRAINED, and
knew how to behave, before they adopted her?
Notwithstanding your answers to my questions, the solution to your
parents' "problem" is OBEDIENCE TRAINING.
Ask them to enroll in an OBEDIENCE TRAINING class, and do it ASAP.
Your vet can usually aim them in the right direction.

I would be grateful for any advice or any sites which would help me.
