haverhill...
Sometimes I have to visit places that have dogs and I always wonder

TheSimplyAmazingPuppyWizard...
Dogs just LOVE company, haverhill, on accHOWENT
of they're pack critters. All pack critters LOVE
companionship, just like people, like the miserable
lyin dog abusing punk thug coward active acute
chronic long term incurable mental cases who replied
to your post, like michael ball, for EXXXAMPLE. He
MURDERS dogs in the local shelter on accHOWENT
of he's chronically disabled by mental illness <{): ~ ) >

And janet boss, she likeWIZE murders innocent defenseless
dumb critters through her shelter / dog training business.

And tommy sorenson aka gentleman jack morrison aka joey
finnochiarrio aka DOGMAN, all of them are proven lyin dog
abusing mental cases who just LOVE the companionship
of innocent defenseless dumb critters they jerk choke bribe
crate shock intimidate mutilate and murder for pleasure an
profit <{) ; ~ ) >

Handsome Jack Morrison...

leg off. Any suggestions?

don't go in the house or yard until the owner has it under control.

TheSimplyAmazingPuppyWizard...
NO PROBLEMO, haverhill <{): ~ ) >

ALL AGGRESSION IS FEAR. ALL FEAR is CAUSED BY MISHANDLING
or TRAINING in the case of protection trained dogs. 99% of ALL
PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED POLICE and / or PROTECTION TRAINED
DOGS WILL NOT ATTACK A PERFECTLY STATIONARY PERSON NO
MATTER WHAT.

There's many REASONS for that, HOWEver, INCOMPETENT TRAININ
is the cause of TRAINED dogs failing to attack when perhaps
they SHOULD and of curse, vice versa <{): ~ ( >

So, the FIRST thing to do when approached by menacing
critters is say HOWEDY to them and DO NOT LOOK AT
them or BREAK STRIDE. If they pursue you, just "FREEZE"

Don't even THINK.

DON'T LOOK.

DON'T TALK.

DON'T DO NUTHIN EXXXCEPT PREY.

SILENTLY.

AND PREY PLENTY.

After a couple of minutes even the most suspiciHOWES
fear aggressive dog will find sumpthin more interesting
to harass. OR, he MAY try to MAKE YOU MOVE. DON'T. EVEN
IF HE BITES YOU, HE WILL NOT ATTACK IF YOU DO NOT REFLEX.

So, if it hurts you, PREY SILENTLY HARDER but DON'T MOVE.

But of curse, THAT AIN'T what you wanted to hear. What
you WANTED to hear was some MAGICKAL TRAINING TIPS
which you can employ kinda like a street magician to make a
menacing critter smile and ask for more enterTRAINments.

Like offerin a bribe. HOWEver, THAT AIN'T GONNA WORK.
Dogs are SCAVENGERS. They STEAL scraps of food an
run to hide to eat them with their back to the wall in a
heightened state of alert. Offering fearful dogs food bribes
often makes them MORE AGGRESSIVE and suspiciHOWES.

THAT'S HOWE COME the EXXXPERTS you're askin often
got to MURDER innocent defenseless dumb critters on
accHOWENT of they think you can BRIBE LOVE TRUST
and RESPECT as their parents taught them.

Of curse you know The Freakin Simply Amazing Puppy Wizard
is the ONLY trainer who can give you the answers you wanted,
haverhill. You was just askin the liars dog abusers cowards and
active acute chronic long term incurable mental cases if they had
any ideas for SPORT, eh haverhill???

"...all the highest nervous activity, as it manifests
itself in the conditional reflex, consists of a continual
change of these three fundamental processes --
excitation, inhibition and disinhibition," Ivan P. Pavlov

"Postitive emotions arising in connection
with the perfection of a skill, irrespective
of its pragmatic significance at a given
moment, serve as the reinforcement. IOW,
emotions, not outside rewards, are what
reinforces any behavior," Ivan Pavlov.

"It is NO WONDER that the marked changes in
deviant behavior of children can be achieved
through brief, simple educative routines with
their mothers which modify the mother's social
behaviors shaping the child (Whaler, 1966). Some
clinics have reported ELIMINATION ofthe need for
child THERAPY through changing the clinical emphasis
from clinical to parental HANDLING of the child
(Szrynski 1965).

A large number of cases improved sufficiently after
preliminary contact with parents that NO treatment
of children was required, and almost ALL cases
SHOWE a remarkably shortened period for therapy.
Quite severe cases of anorexia nervosa have been
treated in own to five months by simply REPLACING
the parents temporarily with EFFUSIVELY LOVING
SUBSTITUTES (Groen, 1966)."

Michael A. Ball...
If you have a legitimate reason for going to these places, you probably have guidelines to
enable you deal with such obstacles through a variety of methods. Since you are willing to
face at least some of the dogs, I gather you like dogs--at least a little. That helps.

First of all, remember that you are invading the dog's space. For some dogs, guarding that
space is their job--and some are very good at it. Surely you would respect that fact.
Whether pit bull or bichon, they are all individuals, with a few things in common. HA!
Just like we humans!

Avoiding bites is probably more a matter of knowing what not to do. For example, don't
panic, don't become confrontational, don't shout and don't make sudden moves. Stand your
ground, speak calmly [the dog won't know what you are saying, but will recognize the
tone], ask the dog to go away and gently point to where you want him to go [his owner has
probably made that motion].

As already mentioned, most dogs are more willing to bluff than to bite. I really believe
that. That group shouldn't pose much of a problem. If the owner is willing, become friends
with the dog--especially if you might have to return soon.

More resistant (dangerous) dogs will block your path while showing their teeth. I'd give
my best shot at befriending the dog; failing that, I advise you to do what I'd do--try to
contact the owner to help gain entry. You and the owner could work out a strategy for any
future visits.

On the lighter side, don't fret about those dogs going for your leg; but try to avoid
those going for your throat. :-)

Every dog is an individual, as is their guardian: no single training method works for all.

Handsome Jack Morrison...
There's no one-size-fits-all solution. It would depend on how good
you are at reading a dog's behavior (most dogs like to bluff, not
bite), what tools you would have available to help you out, what kind
of situation it was (are you in the dog's yard/home, is the dog out on
the street, is the dog's owner around, etc.), and how good you are at
avoiding these kinds of situations in the first place.

My advice is to just AVOID those situations (and the places where
they're likely to occur) whenever possible, especially if you have
limited or no experience in handling dogs, especially aggressive ones.

Opinicus...
First rule is "Don't provide surfaces on which dog bites will significantly
influence your own behavior".

Once you've resolved that rule get back to us and we'll address the others.
