diddy...
Thanks for the well wishes for Tuck from places I never expected. I can see
you truly can put empathy for the dog above who owns him.

Paula...
Diddy, do you truly think that it is only because of Tuck? I can't
speak for everyone, but I have to say that for myself, it doesn't
matter what kind of person you are. Any loving dog owner would have
my well wishes for themselves as well as for their dog in your
situation. I wouldn't wish that kind of panic on my worst enemy and
you certainly don't come close to worst enemy status. It would be
pretty sad for me, actually, if anyone on usenet could get to me that
badly, come to think of it.

He's now out of surgery, and has septic peritonitis from eating a raw

montana wildhack...
Well, that's the first step. That's good news in and of itself.
Sometimes those babies are a lot tougher than we can imagine.

He has a whole lot of people pulling for him. As do you.

We're meditating on his recovery.

chicken wingtip.
if he recovers , he is expected to be hospitalized for two weeks.

Alison...
I guess it's one step at a time. He has survived surgery and you have to
hope he will pull through.
How old is Tuck?
Alison

I'm terrified as he's listed in critical condition

sighthounds & siberians...
I assume that the bone perforated his intestine at some point? It must

diddy...
No it just stuck. he ate grass and it wadded up, and everything locked up
tight. The intestines, with nothing going through, stuck to each other.
when they did that, his intestines went on lockup. everything in there is
adhesioned together. they separated everything, and barring future
adhesions and infections, he should be ok. but it's a very high risk
condition and a lot of 'if's'

sighthounds & siberians...
Adhesions are a big mess, in people or animals, no doubt about it.

javagsd...
OW Poor Tuck! I've been fighting the aftermath of the human version
of this for the past 2 years and it's no fun at all. Entirely too
unpleasant for an innocent pup.

Lynn K.

diddy...
Did java recover ok?

javagsd...
He's with me and he's happy and doing well at age 10, so I can't ask
for more than that. There was some brain damage from extended high
temperatures, but nothing that affects his quality of life. Of course
he was 9 went we went through this crisis. As horrible and frightening
as it was, I imagine it's even worse for you with a bright-eyed pup.
Thanks for asking.

Lynn K.

diddy...
I'm so glad he's still with you.

the septemia comes from lack of movement and circulation.

It

be genetic for Danny's line to have very large veterinary bills. ;-)

diddy...
Bad omen, isn't it?

sighthounds & siberians...
Think positively: he's just getting all that out of the way now, and
once he recovers he'll be perfectly healthy.

FurPaw...
I'm glad he made it through the first hurdle, and I hope with the
help of antibiotics, good doctoring and lots of good wishes that
he pulls through.

You hang in there, too -
