Your best bet is to try all..........hold on,not all at once
K9-advantix is good, but it is very toxic to cats (also waterproof)
Frontline Plus is good, its also waterproof
advanage is ok, if you dog doesnt stay out a lot and you check him for
ticks
With ALL the above you MUST use SOAP FREE shampoo. If not it gets
striped right back off.And you need to wait 2 days after the bath to
put it on. Look for shampoo that is made for dog with alleriges, or use
oatmeal & aloe by vet solutions.
someone said capstar...capstar works GREAT, but it only kills the fleas
for one day. But it can be used everyday. What we do when a dog/cat
comes in full of fleas is to give a capstar and the apply frontline
plus or advantage.
Btw k9 advantix and advantage are made by the same company
Just make sure you get the correct weight class for your pet and to use
the right type of shampoo (soap free) and wait 2 days after bath to
reapply.
Also if your dog/cat has flea's check the stool, most likely they will
get tapeworms (it only takes them to swallow ONE flea to get it)
With frontline & K9 adv you have to wait 4 weeks before you
reapply, with advantage you can get away with it soon.
oh..........with capstar all pets must be 2 pounds and over to take it
And with the other all pets must be 8 weeks & 2 pounds to use it.
Dawn dish soap kills flea's and it save to use and any age

========================
I use Frontline Plus. I don't think my dog has ever had a flea.

multipronged approach.
Treat the area with an area spray. Treat the yard with a yard spray. Treat
the dog with K9- Advantix.

I use K9 Advantix personally, but I don't have flee problems. I have
mosquito problems. Never thought anything would attract mosquitos
better than me, until I took my dog out near a pond near dusk. I
didn't get bit more than three times, and he had over 30 bites in about
15 minutes. Works wonders on mosquitos, and I have found a few dead
fleas after training in a field, so it appears to kill them effectively
as well. I agree with the three pronged assault method though,
anything to kill as many of them as possible wherever your dog is will
be more effective than just treating the dog. You have to address the
cause of the fleas, which is typically the yard and house if it is a
recuring problem, not just one they dragged home from the vet.

continue with regular yard/house/dog treatments, and you will beat this. It
takes all three.
