I am a very happy dog owner who owns and uses Jerry Howes DOGGIE DO
RIGHT. My white GSD has improved greatly from from it and from all
jerry's help. I will always be greatful for that. no other trainer
could help her:-( she was painfully nervouse (whining, hiding,
cowering, grinding her teath) i love this dog and would never never

That doesn't sound like something a halfway decent behaviorist
couldn't deal with. I've successfully rehabbed spooky dogs that were
a lot worse than that.

I had several trainers work with my dog and no one could solve her
problems. She is a nervous dog still, but much, much better and calmer,
and sooo very much happier! One of the trainers that worked with her
was a gsd expert, a breeder/ trainer did shows and trained movie dogs.
my dog obeyed her when the pinch collar was on her But she was not less
fearful, though she was more agressive. adding to her problems:-(

give her up but I had to find out how to help her. she is now almost 8
yrs old, but when she was 3 Jerry took her in and worked with her
himself. his love for dogs goes beyond trying to train one dog or two
or ten. He is trying to change the people who deal with dogs so that
ALL dogs will be handled the way they should be.

Not here he's not. Here on these newsgroups, he's trying to insult
people as much as he can, often people he's never had any contact
with. He lies, he slanders, and he almost never offers any
constructive advice.

i do wish he would be nicer, he'd get more respect and maybe the rest
of you would listen and give his methods a try....

This is one of the things that exasperates me about Jerryites. I just
said I've successfully rehabbed fearful dogs. I'm not a trainer, just
a rescuer with enough knowledge and experience to train my dogs to the
level that I need them to be. I've done a lot of reading, gone to
classes with a number of different trainers, and attended seminars,
and come away with positive reinforcement-based methods and techniques
that make sense to me. I'm happy with them, and they work (although I
vary what I do with different dogs when necessary because, whether
Jerry believes it or not, all dogs are not alike). Why would I want
to try different methods - - some of which don't make sense to me - -
especially when they're touted by a person who is verbally abusive and
lies about me?

Now, if you want to follow the "advice" of someone who is clearly
unbalanced and offers no credentials or evidence that he is/does what
he claims, that's your business. But you'll understand why you end up
in the same place he does.

I took a look at my killfile awhile back for the first time in years.
Probably a good 95% of it is from this group and Jerry's nymshifting
only comprises a handful in there. The rest, incredibly, is those that
persist in playing with him. I submit if one wants to play with kooks
there is an infinite number of more interesting ones elsewhere that at
least have something original to say or play with in a humorous manner
so it's worthwhile reading the followups to. I mean, wow, wasting
bandwidth, wasting time with someone so boringly repititious as Jerry says
more about those who play with him than it does about him. It's like
reading a list of cereal ingredients over and over and over again.

I do not agree with EVERYTHING i have read from him, like his view on
spay neuter issues, but he knows how to train dogs and how to live
happily with them.

I resent that! I dont agree with all the name calling that goes on
here, but Im no doofus and let me tell you all, no doofus could handle
my dog! Jerry's system is all about canine thought and emotion:-)
